I am so tempted to get Honda Civic. Sleek appearance. But price more premium and fuel consumption much higher than Honda City. Would love to hear from owners of Honda Civic and Honda City to help me make a decision.

Think your heart is with the Civic. If your pocket can take it, go for the civic. If you are on a budget and still want something decent, can consider City. Mind you, Jazz is a better choice if you don't need the boot space.

Yes heart with Civic but turned off by the high fuel consumption. Civic and HRV almost same price but Civic fuel consumption much higher.

I think you should ask people for real world figures. I don't think the difference is that high

Is there a difference between fuel consumption stated in the car's specifications and real life? Kindly enlighten me as this is my first time getting a car.

Yes. Cos car specifications are tested under ideal circumstances while real world is traffic you will actually encounter in real world.

Example.

You can walk 1 km in 10 minutes on a thread mill or let's say stadium track without sweating

It does not mean you can walk 1 km in 10 minutes without sweating in the real world when weather can change, there is start and stop because of traffic lights, upslope down slope staircase.......

Tempted to get Civic over City cos Civic is more aesthetically appealing and Civic is made in Japan while City is made in Thailand. But the high fuel consumption of Civic turns me off. Can't convince myself to throw in $10k more for Civic with a higher fuel consumption.

Civic are graded above City(no offence to City owner) so surely it cost more.

For FC, if u mainly drive to office then back home I don't think it will significantly cost more.

Hi,

Have some queries. Hope you guys can help.

1. Please see this car expo ad from Kah Motor.

May I know which of the above are additional compared to normal days?

2. What are the standard gifts not mentioned in the above ad? E.g. floor mats? solar films?

3. What is "complimentary after-sales credits"?

4. What is the in-car camera model given by Kah Motor currently? Are there different models? If so, which model is the best?

5. What are the stuff a buyer should ask for from the SE and written down in the contract? Is it reasonable to ask for the same things as Cars@Expo on normal days?

E.g.

- Latest/better in-car camera model?

- Additional 6 months road tax?

- Floor mats?

- Solar films?

6. From http://www.honda.com.sg/cars/price_sheet.asp, "2. Price and package is valid with appointed Finance and/or insurance companies."

What is the price if not taking loan?

What is the price if not taking their insurance?

7. No prior experience. For insurance, what does one have to do/compare/decide? Have to decide prior to signing whether to take their insurance? Or prior to signing, find out how much it is if I take their insurance first, then go elsewhere to compare, then decide? No idea how this works as I have no prior experience.

Apologies for the many questions. Do not wish to "lugi". Many thanks in advance.

What the SE is willing to give depends on the car you buy and also the market. If 2 months from now there is a huge economic downturn, expect the KM to give you more stuff.

But when I got my Jazz 1.3LX this was what I got

1) Solar Film

2) Iroad V9 S2 in car cam

3) Floor mats

4) 6 month Road tax

For the bank loan and insurance, IIRC KM doesn't give you discount if you take their loans and insurance, but I took it with them cause I lazy to source myself.

Best is still to go down and ask the SE. Just don't get pressured by them with their today only offer.

Can I clarify:

- KM does not charge more if you do not take loan right? I heard C&C does charge more if not taking loan.

- Is Solar Film and Magnetic Sunshade the same thing? What is the quantity for this, 4 for all 4 door windows?

- Similarly, floor mats refer to quantity of 4? 2 front and 2 back?

Thanks.

Hi

1. Not sure about C&C. However when I bought my car from KM, KM did not charge extra.. but the free gifts are smaller in term of cost.

2. Solar Film are applied on all glass window (include front and bac) it reduce some IR and strong glare.. but sufficient for driving.. those magnetic type in my opinion block more visible light and glare..useful only for side windows. .. . best have both.

3. Yes.
