Coldfish Neutral Newbie February 5, 2005 Share February 5, 2005 Here r my Optra5 pics, Nve do much to the exterior, going put visor when stock arrive. Nice bro! I bought an Aveo just before Optra5 came out. Sibei Ai Wan man. Just one question: There was concern about the C pillar being to big. Do you have any issues with blind spots as a result? Staff Neutral Newbie February 5, 2005 Share February 5, 2005 yeah bro...they have it fix and respray the bumper. but now still can't speed lei ....running in now ... still waiting to reach the 1k mark , now only 300+ crusing at 70kmh ...like snail
Silver_blade Turbocharged February 5, 2005 Share February 5, 2005 I believe you should be able to drive faster than 70km/h. You haveto check on the rpm not the speed your car is travelling. I think you should keep the rpm not more than 3000. Chack your car manual for the right info. Under rev your car during in is not good for the engine too. Other important thing to note is not to acc or brake to fast. Your brake pad need to bed-in probably and your tyre need to wear the protective layer too. Both take about 500km to run-in. Takanori Neutral Newbie February 6, 2005 Share February 6, 2005 The C-Pillar not much concern to me as I dun hav flexible neck to twist lyk an owl all the way back to c the C-pillar area. Dun tell me u all turn all the way to check blind spot? Tat's dangerous man! The road infront is more concern, or else where got enuff time to react if turn ard n c behind. 4 me I only the most slightly luk at the rear dr window or else will b very stress full if I wan in n out traffic. But I muz admit tat the rear glass area is very small as compared to other cars. If my rear sit is filled fully, den i can't c anything through my rear mirror. Abit dangerous, but juz assume I drive a van or lorry, use side mirror to c onli.
Takanori Neutral Newbie February 6, 2005 Share February 6, 2005 Ya RPM more impt. Bro, dun need b a snail lah, or else will b very stressful. Juz go faster abit n make sure dun >90km/h can liao. Who tell u drive only 70? Driving at 70 is such a sad thing as u c lorries n vans passing u. Tink u keep to the left lane oso no chance to overtake lorry infront u. But last time I unknowningly hit 100 mark.

Staff Neutral Newbie February 6, 2005 Share February 6, 2005 ok sure , got it ...start crusing at 80-90km/h liao but i notice tat when crusing at between 80-90 , my rpm show bout 2000-2100 rpm is tat normal ? Or should the rpm be higher than tis when crusing at the mention speed? another thing is , should the temperature gauge needle show slighly below the half pt? cos i notice also , when i warm up the engine liao , it used to stay at that mark or sshould it be lower than tat ga ? Staff Neutral Newbie February 6, 2005 Share February 6, 2005 bro , do yr know how many km must run in for the optra5 ? b4 i can cruise at higher speed , tats above 90km/h? manuel state fot breaking-in is 1st few hundred kilometer , wah liao , 999km also consider few hundred lei , or do i need to wait for the 1st 1k servicing ?thanks
Dirtrider_ak Neutral Newbie February 6, 2005 Share February 6, 2005 they already over rev when the car is out of the factory! Dun worry just drive as normal lahh. Check your temperature that it does not go beyon 1/2 lah. Should be ok. Check got enuf engine oil oso to see enuf or not. I see so many car at shipyard from the ship to parking lot already zoom dunno how fast by the delivery guy ... heheh already kenna rape ... hahaha. The maunfacture just want to make sure there is no defects, so implement cheap security, run-in the engine at our expense. Engines in the 21st century are very well maufactured. First 1000km drive normaly. After 1000km start to open up more. Anyway Singapore can go how fast ? most of the time max 100km average! Car is design to go 170km .... when you reach 5000km you can open it up slowly to 170km ... you never reach that speed here unless on race track. Just remember you need to service and check oil level. Lack of oil means piston jam.
Dirtrider_ak Neutral Newbie February 6, 2005 Share February 6, 2005 Haha you interested in cosematics or performance on the rims? If you want the looks then you are paying a high price for it as you are not uing the rims to the full capabilities. Who cares if it is sissy. Not their money mah. It is your pocket. If live in australia can effort to spend, cheaper. Singapore expensive sia. Use rim 10 years still there. Except kenna lang-ga ... rim bengkok or hit curb to often. After that spend more money on alignment ..... hahaha better dun hit anything or $$$ fly away.

Tyre is 500km is about right. hehe take short cut and dun follow rules for me.LOL you drive hard and within 100km can liao. But be careful! I'll do this often in safe areas like carpark and brake harder at some places. In the rain dun try it. sippery sia. lucky ABS is there to help in carpark ...hahaha test ABS oso mah. Dry weather, unable to simulate it when braking hard. If can I think everyting will be infront ... haii and smoke from tyres will come out liaoz. Conering on wet weather the back will slide if overlimit, if within limit it will oversteer with good feeling slightly and that is the limit at 65km on wet road on Optras. dunno abt Op5. as it does not have a boot. maybe better handling on wet road. Jansen Neutral Newbie February 7, 2005 Share February 7, 2005 Hi Staff Dirtrider has given plenty of very sound advice...in his own unique way of wriiting :)..he sounds like "lao jiao" but very practical advice. The temp gauge needle tilting at 11 om clock is normal...just as long it does not tilt towards the right hand side!! The speed and all those stuffs you mentioned is ok...just don't RAM the car. If there are axxxxxes passing you by at high speeds and cutting into your lane, let them, sayang your engine for long term benefits. Staff, better to complete the 1K servicing, then decide whether to take the optra5 to a "new" level or not... Regards Jansen ↡ Advertisement
