Ssur Neutral Newbie March 15, 2005 Share March 15, 2005 For $10 they suck the engine oil out by the machine or drain the conventional way from the engine oil nut below?
Goodspeed Clutched March 19, 2005 Share March 19, 2005 i think the conventional way is better... sucking dont really take out all the dirt..
Glyuen 3rd Gear August 27, 2005 Share August 27, 2005 hi, where did you went to change your oil etc eventually? do you buy your own oil?
Yeobh 4th Gear August 29, 2005 Share August 29, 2005 (edited) Which will be cleaner - sweeping the floor or vaccuming ? Even air power oil evacuator can easily develop up to 25 inch of mercury of vaccum via a vortex piece. PS attached a mually operated vacuum oil evacuator design specially for field work. Very popular with those servcing in-board marine engines. Edited August 29, 2005 by Yeobh
Genie47 1st Gear August 29, 2005 Share August 29, 2005 This stuff got rave reviews by BITOGers! They change oil very easily while keeping their precious driveway clean. Basically pretty simple thing. Pump and let the vac pressure slowly suck out the oil while you go and leem kopi. Come back, all the oil in the container. Change oil filter and then add new oil. No need to jack up car, no need to open up that sump plug. But there are some that say this might not be clean for the engine because the particulates might settle towards the bottom of the sump and the suction do not suck these up. Hence, the draining of the sump via the sump plug is cleaner because gravity just carries the junk down with it.

Yeobh 4th Gear August 30, 2005 Share August 30, 2005 Yes this design and manufacutred in Taiwan oil extractor is pentrating the US market like wild fire. Draining engine oil by gravity flow will not drain all the sludge in fact vacuuming has a better chance of getting them. The best method which is time comsuming and expensive, is to drop the oil pan and do the clean up
Yeobh 4th Gear August 30, 2005 Share August 30, 2005 The days for DIYers to crawl under the undercarrige and wrench the drain plug may be coming to an end especially for those working on European cars. Some European manufacurers are already putting in specially designed plugs (to their new cars)that can only be open and tighten with specially designed key wrench and some are already getting rid of the drain plug completely. The whole idea to to prevent DIYers from polluting the enviroment. For those who wish to continue doing will have to invest in the neccessary special tools or oil extractor and dispose of used oil to authorised recyclers.
