To me, the right lane is for overtaking, so if one is not overtaking, pls take the lane on the left. You can still stay in the overtaking lane as long as there's no one around but if you do see anyone behind coming up, pls let them pass. I have encountered various cars which stay in the overtaking lane and drive strictly at 80km/h....with a looong convoy of cars waiting behind. Assassin Clutched December 9, 2002 Share December 9, 2002 Yup, my first time going up the NS highway and I found that most M'sian drivers do change lane to let us pass if they see you coming up behind them. And if they come up behind you and maybe you didnt see them, they'll turn on their right signal indicator to let you know thwy want to overtake. Presea 3rd Gear December 9, 2002 Share December 9, 2002 Yeah....the last time some of us (Autospeed) went up in convoy.....we approached many, many Malaysian cars that gave way to us as we approached them at crazy (to us) speeds. There was only a WRX (Malaysian) and probably several Singapore cars that didn't realise how "slowly" they were going on the right lane! .....we ended up overtaking some SG cars on the left...... The worse kind of littering on the roads...I feel anyway...is when drivers throw their cigarette buts out the window !! Can usually spot them easily coz they have one entire arm sticking out the window as if they are trying to prevent their drivers side door from falling off or something. Soya Supersonic December 9, 2002 Share December 9, 2002 You'll be surprised at how many drivers in SG probably think that the extreme right lane is for 90kmh only and u r not supposed to overtake them if they r already going at that speed. Hence, by that definition, they r not "road hogging". And if the next lane got no cars, anyone who wants to break the speed limit can still overtake on the left what. Found this out many times when i casually asked around. Sigh......... Agree driving in SG has it's highs n lows. He noticed during breakfast, there was a stand where a chap was preparing a few types of eggs (scrambles, sunny side up, etc). One SG woman was asking, quite loudly, how come there's no eggs prepared in a certain way and demanded the poor chap to do it! My friend felt very shy and embarassed.
