Soya Supersonic December 28, 2002 Share December 28, 2002 Think it was the 2L. Guess the handling played the pivotal role. It was a shootout between the F1 manufacturers real-world cars like the new Accord, Laguna, C-Class,Toyota Avenis, Mondeo, 3-series. ↡ Advertisement
Magfocus 5th Gear December 28, 2002 Share December 28, 2002 Many magazines still proclaim the Mondeo as the best handling car in its class, although the M6 runs it close.. But to "beat" the 3 series is something else..
Assassin Clutched December 28, 2002 Share December 28, 2002 (edited) U can catch the rerun on BBC World Ch 13 Sun 1.30pm. Mondeo outran even the C-Class Kompressor on the track. This is interesting. This was a manual version of the Mondeo 2.0l ? What kind of bhp and torque/Nm levels are we talking about for the Mondeo ? Cheers Edited December 28, 2002 by Assassin
Soya Supersonic December 28, 2002 Share December 28, 2002 Yep,it's a stick. When i was in europe, noticed that most cars are manual. Dunno abt the technical specs for the mondeo. Maybe the mondeo-ners in MCF can shed some light?

Blackford Neutral Newbie December 28, 2002 Author Share December 28, 2002 I would assume it is a stick vs stick comparison to make it a fair race For the Auto 4 cylinder 1999C Max Speed = 189 KMH 0-96 KMH at 9.3sec KMH is mile I think....
Assassin Clutched December 28, 2002 Share December 28, 2002 (edited) Yeah...think its more common in the EU for cars to be manual. Over here, coz of all the start stop traffic and up down slopes, it makes more sense to be on auto...well..for me anyway. Here's what I found for the technical specs for the Ford Mondeo Ghia: Engine: 1999cc, 16 valves, DOHC Fuel Consumption: 9.8L/100km Wheel Size: 6.5J X 16 Tyre Size: 205/55 R16 Wheelbase: 2754mm Performance: Max Power 145bhp @ 6000rpm Max Torque 190Nm @ 4500rpm Max Speed 215kph 0-100km/h, 9.8sec Size (Length, Width, Height): 4731/1812/1459 (mm) Weight: 1369kg Edited December 28, 2002 by Assassin
Soya Supersonic December 28, 2002 Share December 28, 2002 Well...Ford own Jag n supplies Cosworth engines to anyone who is willing to pay so guess Ford is in, ahem...F1. Strange, the winner was a non F1 team. Oh yeah, think the Jag X-type was also in the shootout.
Madarmour Neutral Newbie December 29, 2002 Share December 29, 2002 Just like Honda, who only supply engines to Jordan and BAR and has never entered as a full team. In fact, quite a number of F1 teams are non-manufacturers, like McLaren, Jordan, BAR, Minardi, Sauber, Wiliams, Arrows and ex-teams like Benetton, Tyrell. Blackford Neutral Newbie December 29, 2002 Author Share December 29, 2002 So that is the connection... Me thought FORD F1 is a reality... Anyways Jag does not do well in F1... hope next year F1 will be less Ferrari dominated, otherwise it is going to be a yawn again... Ps : I am a KIMI fan... Soya Supersonic December 29, 2002 Share December 29, 2002 The 2002 F1 season was indeed a Ferrari yawn fest. [sleeping] But somehow, dun think that's gonna change much in 03 even wif the revised rules. WRC looks more interesting now. Montoya's my man. Only guy with the potential n ability to whip MS's butt! ↡ Advertisement
