  1. Finding an old used car, whether in a storage building or a junkyard, is something normal nowadays, especially in big countries such as the United States. But to find a Mercedes-Benz 300SL, now that is a real treasure find. A Mercedes-Benz 300SL, also known as the Mercedes Gullwing, was found in a rat-infested garage in California, USA and it is no ordinary 300SL. This particular car was once belonged to Tom Wellmer. His parents bought him this 1955 car as a present for his college graduation. Mr. Wellmer used it until its transmission gave way and he parked it in a garage, back in 1971. That was forty years ago. Today, he has finally let go of the car which he intended to fix up many years ago. The car has now been sent to a Canadian Mercedes Gullwing restoration expert, Rudi and Company. The restoration company owner, Mr. Rudi Koniczek, intends to restore it back to its original state before handing it over to the new owner, just like how Tom Wellmar received it many years ago. The identity of the new owner wasn
  2. Finally a puzzle of Mercedes-Benz 300 SL is out. As we can see, its exterior has changed radically. It is the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL HWA Special Edition and it's painted. Hans-Werner Aufrecht is an engineer who worked for Mercedes and created the sports division, AMG. He then left and created his own company, HWA, which controls Mercedes DTM, a division in charge of the German tourisms championship. One day a wealthy client ordered 300 SL with the following conditions: bodywork of mythical design with more "modern" technology, air conditioning, airbags, more powerful, pneumatic brakes of disc 225/45 R18 ahead and 235/45 R18 behind. In short, he wanted to renew a classic car. To give life to the 300 SL of the 50s, that is to say. The notion turned out to be prohibitive for almost any mortal one, because it costs approximately 500,000 euros to get the 300 SL and the cost of production is more than 400,000 euros. There are three units all over the world and the first one was made for the Sultan of Brunei. Really, the engine is not the same as 300 SL original, it is M119 6.0 V8 32 valves (5.956 cc) of the strength of 381 hp to 5,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 580 Nm to 3,750 rpm. Maximum speed is 250 km/h, although they can really hit more. These engines also have a four-speed automatic transmission. As for interior, a curious mixture of 300 SL and 190 W201 (1982-1993) was used, adapted in several aspects. It has a partial design of the original model, but one notices clearly that the steering-wheel and the gearbox are too modern to be a car of the 50s. Is it desecration or a work of art? That
