  1. It seems like another new limited edition model like the Bugatti Divo will debut at the upcoming Monterey Car Week in California come August. As reported by The Supercar Blog, this new Bugatti will be produced in a low production number and could cost in excess of S$6.8 million like the Divo. Only 40 units of the Divo will be built and every single unit was sold before it was revealed in public. The new model will coincide with the 110th anniversary of the French car manufacturer and it seems apparent that the new model will join the Chiron 110 ans Bugatti and one-off La Voiture Noire to help celebrate this milestone. It is likely to be based around the Chiron and there have been reports that Bugatti is developing a new model with an even greater focus on weight saving and aerodynamics than the Divo. We will only know more about the car as we get closer to the event.
  2. Audi launched its flagship performance series line, the RS, with the Audi RS2 Avant twenty years ago. To pay tribute to the founding model, Audi will launch a special edition RS4 Avant Nogaro from early 2014. Although previewed through digital media, the car will celebrate its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show, finished in Nogaro blue and carrying exclusive equipment. Like its forefather, the customised Nogaro blue pearl effect paint finish is the most noticeable visual signal of the anniversary model. Originally, the RS2 Avant was optionally finished with an exclusive Nogaro blue hue, recalling the two victories achieved by Frank Biela on the Nogaro circuit in the French Touring Car Championship of 1993. The RS4 Avant Nogaro houses a naturally aspirated 4.2-litre V8 powerplant that delivers 450bhp at 8,250rpm, with a peak torque of 430Nm available between 4,000 and 6,000rpm. The lump propels the RS4 Avant from nought to century in a brisk 4.7 seconds before climbing to a governed speed of 280km/h. It sips 10.7L/100km - for a CO2 equivalent of 249g/km. In the sporty interior, Audi offers two different upholstery versions. In both cases, the side sections are covered with black Valcona leather, Alcantara synthetic fibres for the centre sections and door trim inserts are coloured either black or Nogaro blue. A modern classic: the Audi Avant RS2 from 1994 The Audi RS2 was the first RS model from Audi, and also the brand's first high-performance model to combine everyday usability with a dynamic character. Audi developed the RS2 in cooperation with Porsche, with assembly occurring at Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen. Its appearance alone was indicative of the power it held within. The front bumper featured powerful air inlets, and the grille was painted black. The rump of the RS2 Avant was dominated by a thick horizontal band of light that emphasises the width of the vehicle. The force fed 2.2-litre five-cylinder engine delivered a modest 315bhp and 410Nm of torque and sprinted to the century mark in a respectable 5.4 seconds and reached a top speed of 262km/h. A six-speed manual transmission delivered the power to the quattro drivetrain, which had a manually activated locking differential at the rear axle. Fast forward twenty years later and the Audi RS6 Avant, the most powerful car in its lineup, is armed with 560bhp and a dizzying 700Nm of torque from a 4.0-litre V8. Dubbed the everyday supercar, the RS6 Avant completes the sprint to 100km/h in just 3.9 seconds - 0.7 seconds quicker than a V8 powered Audi R8.
  3. Peugeot has introduced a limited production RCZ Magnetic Edition for the U.K. market. Only 170 examples will be built. When I read the name "Magnetic Edition", I thought the RCZ will come equipped with some magnetic suspension. Apparently, I was wrong as the updates are cosmetic in nature. The RCZ Magnetic Edition will be offered in exclusive Pearlescent Pearl White or Metallic Nera Black. Other exterior revisions include matte black roof arches and black grille. The sexy coupe wears 19-inch Sortilege Wheels in Onyx Matte Black finish. Going on to the interior, this special RCZ pampers the occupants with leather sport seats. The steering gets wrapped in leather while the word "Magnetic" is engraved on the door panels. The driver can count on the Peugeot Connect Navigation System to get to his destination. Under the hood, two engines are available, namely the 1.6-litre THP with 156bhp or 200bhp and a 2.0-litre HDi diesel churning 163bhp.
  4. To celebrate the brand's 50th anniversary this year, Lamborghini has planned to release a special model at the Geneva Motor Show. On the eve of the event, the photo of this hypercar has been leaked. Called the Veneno, which means "poison" in Spanish, this is the fastest Lamborghini ever built. The car is built upon the carbon fibre monocoque chassis borrowed from the Aventador LP700-4. The Veneno is powered by a more powerful version of the Aventador's 6.5-litre V12 engine that produces 740bhp instead of 700bhp. This gives the Veneno a top speed rating of 354km/h. Power is transmitted to all four wheels via a six-speed ISR robotised manual gearbox. If you are thinking of getting one despite the increase in ARF, you might be disappointed to learn that all three units of this limited edition Lamborghini have been sold. Each carries a price tag of approximately
  5. To launch the limited edition Alfa MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde SBK, an overtaking stunt was performed at the Silverstone Circuit in Britain involving precision driver Paul Swift. Paul Swift, who is behind the helm of the MiTo, balanced the car on two wheels. Chris "The Stalker" Walker overtook the MiTo on his Kawasaki Ninja by going underneath the precarious-looking MiTo. The limited edition MiTo has special body decal and comes with a red roof and a pair of red side mirrors. It wears a set of 18" alloy wheels complete with red Brembo calipers behind. The SBK will get the same 170bhp 1.4-litre MultiAir turbo like the standard car. The MiTo SBK is built to celebrate Alfa's association with the World Superbike Championship whereby the company is the title sponsor of the series and supplies safety cars as well.
  6. After the Audi R8 China Edition, the German carmaker has unveiled another limited edition of the super car for the Chinese market. The body of this special edition R8 is painted in Nordic Gold color. Carbon fiber material is applied to external areas such as the front spoiler, rear wing and diffuser and side mirrors. The coupe wears 19" alloys with a titanium hue to complement the body color. In the cabin, the passengers get pampered by exclusive Alcantara sport seats. The interior door handles and gear stick get carbon fibre treatment. The Nordic gold accent is applied throughout the cabin. The limited edition R8 quattro is powered by the 5.2-litre V10 FSI engine developing 525bhp and 530Nm of torque. The engine is connected to the R tronic single-clutch automated manual gear box. The super car goes from 0 to 100km/h in a mere 3.9 seconds. Limited to only 30 units, the special edition R8 is going at 2,628,000 Yuan (S$518,542). With rising affluence in China, you can bet that this will not be the last dedicated R8 for the economic powerhouse.
  7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9vhsFsyGQ0 If you think that forklifting an Audi R8 onto the roof of Fullerton Hotel was impressive, wait till you hear this. Aston Martin, in celebration of its 100th year since inception, dropped in a Vanquish onto the helipad of Dubai's Buri Al Arab hotel before showing if off to a group of dignitaries. At 321m, the Buri Al Arab hotel is the fourth tallest hotel in the world. It stands on an artificial island 280m from Jumeirah beach and is connected to the mainland by a private curving bridge. Also as part of the British carmaker's 100th year celebration, the Vanquish, Rapide, V8 Vantage and DB9 will all be offered with a limited production Centenary Edition model with just 100 units. Since the star of this blog post is the Vanquish, its Centenary Edition comes with a special graduated paint finish, which adds 18 hours to the 50-hour paint process. Under the hood is a 6.0-litre V12 which makes 565bhp and 457Nm of torque. It sprints from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.1 seconds.
  8. Audi has unveiled the R8 China edition specially designed for the Chinese market. Only 80 units will be produced, with the car knob bearing the serial number from 1 to 99. Audi skips all numbers featuring a 'four' because Chinese customers consider it as an unlucky number. The Audi R8 coupe is only offered in China with a 5.2-litre V10 engine churning out 525bhp and 530Nm of torque. All it takes is 3.9 seconds for the car to sprint from standstill to 100km/h. On the outside, buyers can choose to have the special Malibu Blue paint used for the body and Suzuka Grey for the side blades or vice-versa. Inside the cabin, the aluminum shifter is engraved with the R8 emblem and two Chinese characters. Other interior upgrades include leather upholstery with contrast stitching, Alcantara material for both the parking brake and steering wheel as well as Malibu Blue trimmings are featured all over the cabin.
  9. Unfazed by the European debt crisis and sluggish global economy, Rolls-Royce plans to increase the number of dealers from 105 to 120 worldwide in countries such as Vietnam, Thailand and Chile to target the well-to-do. Rolls-Royce is counting on the growing wealth in Asia and South America to generate demand as the debt crisis dampens sentiment among Europe's rich. The number of households in these regions with more than $5 million in assets is set to grow by 3 to 5 percent per year in the coming years, said Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes, Rolls-Royce's CEO. "Of course, we feel that the mood isn't the best in certain markets, but we're able to compensate with growth in places such as Russia, the Middle East and China," he said. "Our goal is to grow sustainably and not chase volume. Rolls-Royce will remain exceptional," Torsten added. The concentration of wealth is increasing in developing markets. The Asia-Pacific region overtook North America with the most high-net worth individuals in 2011. Earlier this year, Rolls-Royce created a Year of the Dragon special edition of the Phantom for the China market, featuring a hand-painted gold dragon on each side of the wheelbase. They were sold out within two months. China is the perfect example rising affluence in Asia.

  11. The Opel Corsa engine portfolio is expanded with a powerful and efficient 120 bhp 1.4 liter turbocharged ecoFLEX gasoline engine with a Start/Stop system. It will make its debut together with the new All Black/All White Corsa colour themes. The turbocharged 1.4 liter ecoFLEX unit will also be available across the rest of the Corsa line-up starting this summer in Europe. It drives the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox and enables both the three- and five-door versions of the supermini to reach a top speed of 195 km/h with a century sprint timing of 10.3 seconds. Although it churns out more horsepower than its rival, the Polo Sport, the baby VW sprints faster to the 100km/h mark at 9.7 seconds. Thanks to the fuel saving Start/Stop technology, both the three and five door Corsa variants with the 1.4 turbo ecoFLEX unit consume petrol at a rate of 5.5L/100km with CO2 emission as low as 129 g/km. The All Black model is finished in a Carbon Flash shade and the All White in a Casablanca White paint. The logo bar across the front grille is also body-coloured and elegantly blends in with the rest of the vehicle. The uniquely painted and polished 17" bicolor wheels match the All Black / All White body color and give the Corsa a contemporary look. On the inside, there are white air vent rings for the All White Edition and matt chrome rings for the All Black version. Both models get special seat fabrics with silver coloured seams as standard along with sport pedals, multi-function leather steering wheel and dark tinted windows. On the option list is the unique Flex-Fix integrated bicycle carrier, Adaptive Forward Lighting system (AFL), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and park assistant.
  12. The Volkswagen Beetle is an iconic car and some rock stars have probably driven them (especially the original Beetle). And now the German automaker has infused the rock and roll formula into one of its newest models, the current generation Beetle. Volkswagen will introduce a special edition Beetle at the Leipzig Auto Show and it will be known as the Beetle Fender Edition. The car was first seen as a concept car at the 2011 Frankfurt International Auto Show. The car will get several Fender-unique features which demonstrate its affiliation with the American musical icon. Many would know about Fender as one of the major producers of guitars and its accessories and many professional musicians such as Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix have used their products. The company recently expanded into the car audio business by teaming up with Panasonic to produce sound systems for Volkswagen. The Beetle Fender Edition stands out with unique interior and exterior styling. Its distinctively painted dashboard features the classic sunburst colour of Fender guitars, and the vehicle's interior is accented with colour-contrasting seams that complement the dash's colours. Beetle Fender Edition vehicles equipped with the 200-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four- cylinder TSI engine will receive seats with exclusive fabric inserts. Outside, all Beetle Fender Edition vehicles are painted in Deep Black Metallic and also feature brushed chrome exterior mirrors, 18-inch "Disc" aluminium-alloy wheels, bi-xenon head lights, and the famous Fender logo. The Fender Premium Audio System debuted in the Jetta GLI in the United States and the Beetle is the first Volkswagen vehicle in Europe equipped with the high-performance sound setup. Using proprietary Panasonic speaker technology, the system cuts through noise and other distractions with front dual-voice coil speakers to create a sound closely similar to a true, live performance. The Beetle Fender Edition will first go on sale in Europe and will be available in America in the third quarter of 2012. Photo credit: Net Car Show
  13. In November 2011, Mazda announced the end of the RX-8 with the introduction of a special edition model, limited to 1000 production units. The demand is so high that Mazda decided to make an additional 1000 cars. The Spirit R, which is sold exclusively in Japan, is available in both manual and automatic transmissions. The six-speed manual model is proving to be more popular, accounting for 66 percent of the sales. Color choices are limited to aluminum metallic, sparkling black mica, or crystal white pearl mica. The second round of the Spirit Rs will be similar to the first production run. This means that they will include special features such as Recaro seats, 19-inch alloy wheels with bronze paint, a special aerodynamic kit and a re-tuned suspension with Bilstein dampers. The end of production of the RX-8 also signifies the end of the rotary-powered Mazda for now. Fans of the Renesis rotary engine need not feel sad as Mazda officials have hinted that it may make a comeback in the future. As of the end of March 2012, Mazda has produced a total of 192,094 units of the RX-8 since it went into production in 2003.
  14. A special edition car made or designed by/for celebrities are not common nor is it something new. There have been a few examples such as the Paul Newman R30 Skyline. But the difference between the Paul Newman Skyline and this two special edition Lotus Evora S is that the Evoras are one-off items specially designed for charity purposes. The Freddie Mercury Evora S was specially made for the birthday (05 September) of the late former Queen frontman who passed away on 24 November 1991. To honour the occasion, Lotus donated a one-off Lotus Evora S which will be auctioned off during a commemorative event. The auction proceeds will go to the Mercury Phoenix Trust. The striking white sports car features red and gold racing stripes as well as an interior which was influenced by one of Freddie Mercury
  15. According to a recent report, Ferrari will form an owners' club and give its members first crack on the ludicrously expensive limited-edition Ferraris that roll out from time to time. Last year, the Italian automaker announced plans to build 80 units of the SA Aperta (shown above), a roadster derived from the 599 GTB coupe. But many long-time Ferrari collectors complained that these limited edition cars were snapped up before they had a chance to act. The SA Aperta was unveiled at a customer-only event in August 2010 at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. It was then displayed publicly at the Paris Auto show the following month. The cars were sold out by the end of September 2010. Speaking with Automotive News Europe, Ferrari CEO Luca Cordero di Montezemolo said "I do not want our faithful collectors to miss the opportunity to buy one of our special series." He declined to divulge details, but speculation suggests the club could be limited to customers who already own five Ferraris. The company says there are about 300 people worldwide who can make that claim. One such person that I can think of is Hong Kong Singer, Aaron Kwok. According to Wikipedia, Kwok owns a F50, F512M, F355 GTS, F360 Modena and F599 GTB Fiorano. Do you know of any Singaporeans who can qualify to join the exclusive club ?
  16. Mazda announced that it is launching a final edition of its rotary-engined sports car, the RX-8, which will only be available in the Japan domestic market with sales set to start on 24 November. Production will be limited to 1,000 units. Stricter fuel economy and CO2 emission regulations have forced the Hiroshima-based carmaker to pull the RX-8 from overseas markets and keeping it alive only in Japan. The RX-8 Spirit will be sold in two versions, one with a six speed manual transmission based on the Type RS and the other with a six speed automatic based on the Type E model. Mazda
  17. Finding an old used car, whether in a storage building or a junkyard, is something normal nowadays, especially in big countries such as the United States. But to find a Mercedes-Benz 300SL, now that is a real treasure find. A Mercedes-Benz 300SL, also known as the Mercedes Gullwing, was found in a rat-infested garage in California, USA and it is no ordinary 300SL. This particular car was once belonged to Tom Wellmer. His parents bought him this 1955 car as a present for his college graduation. Mr. Wellmer used it until its transmission gave way and he parked it in a garage, back in 1971. That was forty years ago. Today, he has finally let go of the car which he intended to fix up many years ago. The car has now been sent to a Canadian Mercedes Gullwing restoration expert, Rudi and Company. The restoration company owner, Mr. Rudi Koniczek, intends to restore it back to its original state before handing it over to the new owner, just like how Tom Wellmar received it many years ago. The identity of the new owner wasn
