  1. Hi, Anyone know where to get the Mother pure Brazilian carnauba wax paste? I used this many year ago from ACE (a hardware shop in Novina)which already closed down. Or anyone can recommend me another similar carnauba wax paste. I prefer the pure wax type not the cleaner wax. Thanks.
  2. I wanted to buy carnauba wax and went to mustafa. But they only have turtle, waxco and Formula 1 carnauba wax. Wanted to get meguiars but they do not carry it. I have tried other turtle product and personally think it is not good enough. I am surprised how deep and shiny it is and how easy it is to apply. I was using meguiars NXT generation Tech wax 2.0 (liquid) but decide to try carnauba wax. Surprised that a cheap product can give such a good result. Better than NXT 2.0 in shine and deep color it bring out. Cost only $11 for the Formula 1 carnauba wax (paste) Happy user here. lol
  3. Chemically it ( a polymer) is a molecule formed by the chemical union of five or more identical combining units called monomers. The Polymer and waxes used for detailing are semi-solid; they are actually a very concentrated solution in an organic solvent or aqueous emulsion. Basic components; although somewhat more complex than other products, waxes and sealants also involve just basic chemistry, when a formulator designs a wax or sealant, they consider several factors; ease of application and removal, cleaning ability (if required), depth of gloss or shine, durability and resistance to detergents / soap. Unfortunately, no one wax or sealant product can meet all of the above characteristics. If one is emphasized and enhanced, it will be to the detriment of another. For example, increased durability means that application and removal can be more difficult. Or, if cleaning capability is emphasized, the depth of shine will be less. The best wax or sealant to use is one that provides as many of the characteristics as possible to achieve a shiny, durable finish. Note- many waxes and polymer sealants actually look better after an initial post-application wash The basic components used in waxes and sealants are; 1. Solvents or mineral oils- used for chemical cleaning, and as a carrier system, it also makes products workable and to provide spread ability, as is the case with Carnauba wax, which in its natural state is rock hard. 2. Emulsifiers - to stabilize the product (oil and water) and make it easier to use 3. Very-light abrasives
  4. Today managed to do some detailing on my ride. So try out this Soft99 wax. Effects not bad, can bring out the warm glow of shine of my 2.5 year car. Wat I did today 1. Wash and shampoo 2. Dry 3. Slap on a thin layer of Soft99 carnauba wax, wait for it to half dry and buff off w MF cloth. Not sure how long the shine can last as I have just slap it on today. Of course my ride cannot compare to Cefiroboy's cefiro kim or Slephygirl's slephy shine, but wat the heck, this pdt is only $12. Avaiable at major petrol station.
  5. anyone knows or tried before?
  6. Any brothers tried the stuff mentioned? Just bought the Paint Chip Repair. Yet to try.
  7. Anybody tried this? check out: http://www.properautocare.com/pin-312.html but is very expensive
  8. Posting this here because it's where I heard of Soft99. My car was previously wearing Collinite #845IW, which went through a few months (half of it through winter) and was still beading nicely today. I would've left it for longer but unfortunately the car encountered lots of bird bombs after being parked under a tree (evil eye to other half). It all washed off no harm done. The wax might've been fine but you guys know how it is, take no chances. Time for something new. Process: Wash VM Soft99 Premium Authentic (needs an acronym, how about S99PA) Not a lot of pics since it was dark by the time I finished and I was working in the garage most of the time anyway because of the weather (rain rain rain, I hate spring). Pics: 2nd time I've used VM and the bottle's still almost full S99PA was a joy to use. Applied by WOWO method with foam pad. This stuff spreads so easily that I managed to get a very nicely even and thin layer. Minimal effort was needed to remove residue. It behaves quite differently to something like Collinite which is oily in nature. It spread more like a liquid, and finished up surprisingly slick. Looks wet but I'd say maybe 10% at most is due to S99PA. VM had more to do with the look. Another shot. Hopefully Melbourne gets some sun tomorrow, I'll put the car out and take a few more pics.
  9. What is Carnauba ? Carnauba is a vegetable fat (wax) obtained from the leaves of the carnauba palm. Carnauba has the unique ability to retain oil while still providing and excellent gloss. Carnauba is the hardest natural wax found on earth and has a lustrous finish that makes it ideal for your vehicle. Where does Carnauba come from ? Carnauba wax is exuded by the leaves of the Brazilian Copernica Cerifera to help it conserve moisture throughout the tree and it
  10. OK here is the low down. I've been lurking in many detailing forums and here is what I found out. Most of them in the consumer market have only..........4.5% the most. Huh? You may ask why. This is the reason. High content carnauba wax car waxes are very difficult to apply. Surface will also be uneven. Because it is uneven, it will require sun baking as experienced by Jesse James. Quite like kiwi on boots then, flame it over a candle to melt it so that the surface will be even. Normal car wax is between 2.8 to 4.5% carnauba content. High content carnauba wax also leaves an oily surface. Swissol is very high content carnauba wax and also very expensive. They advertise mainly in a magazine for the rich and famous called Robb Report . Jesse James must be robbing stage coaches to pay for it . Sorry about that jab Jesse. Hehehehe.
