  2. , my time (1977) running in flat sole black PT shoes ... CNA: SAF to get adidas, Zoot running shoes SINGAPORE: From the end of the year, Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) soldiers will get to choose between German brand adidas and American endurance sports brand Zoot for their running shoes. Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen revealed on his Facebook page on Sunday (Aug 24) the fourth change to the SAF’s running shoes since 1995. Referring to the ASICS running shoes used by the SAF since 2011, Dr Ng said he was delighted with them. “They were of a high quality and have given me many hours of happy walking and jogging,” he said. “More good news for National Servicemen. The next set of running shoes will be from adidas and Zoot, and will be available at the end of the year.” When contacted, the Ministry of Defence said more details on the shoes – such as the specific models and whether they would be available to recruits first or on SAF eMarts as well – would be announced later. There are more than 300,000 regulars, active full- time and operationally ready national servicemen. Currently, servicemen can choose from two models of ASICS running shoes, depending on their foot type – the Gel Kanbarra 4 SP for those with neutral-to-high-arched feet and the Gel 105 SP for those with mildly flat feet. The ASICS shoes were first introduced in August 2011 and were said to be chosen because the Japanese brand is lighter, more durable and more shock-absorbent. Before that, servicemen had been using New Balance or Brooks models since 2007. In the first three decades of National Service, soldiers wore thin-soled black gymnasium shoes. -TODAY/cy link: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/saf-to-get-adidas-zoot/1328052.html Peng Kia nowadays chin heng ahhhhhhhhhhhh...................

  4. How would you expect MacRitchie nature trail to look like, smooth as Orchard Road..... yahoo news: Letter slamming MacRitchie running trail goes viral It takes one "strange" complain letter over a stone to set loose the earth-loving side of Singaporeans, it seems. A reader's letter published by The Straits Times on Saturday sparked major buzz over the weekend, receiving over 14,000 Facebook shares along with a slew of negative comments. Titled "Dangerous obstacles along MacRitchie trail", the letter was written by a Larry Quah Chai Koon, who seemed to be complaining about a fall he had while "exercising" at a nature trail in MacRitchie, at a slope towards the TreeTop Walk. According to his account, his "foot struck a protruding stone" before he "lost balance" and "crashed". His fall impacted his left shoulder, resulting in a "fractured left collarbone" two cracked ribs and "multiple lacerations". The writer then added, "Maintenance should be undertaken to remove protruding stones, branches and roots that may pose a danger to visitors." The letter stirred a storm of negative online comments defending the nature park; some even gave the writer tips on running at the nature trail. Nature defenders One commenter said, "Nature is undulating and full of hidden pitfalls

  8. As reported in Today New Paper, a 40 yrs old man dies at MacRitchie Reservoir whilst jogging with a group of friends on Saturday morning. He collapsed and lost consciousness. Two joggers stopped and performed cardio-pulmonary resuscitation. He was send to hospital but died one hours later. He is the sixth person to have died suddenly while exercising this year. Just two weeks ago, an army Captian age 25, died after completing 21km marathon. I remember those days when I was young, never think of health but enjoying ourself by swimming in the flood water, sucking "Ice Ball" with our bare hands after a game of "Hum Tam Bolah" or football at Farrer Park (never even wash our hands), running bare footed, catches salt water shrimps from fish pond & eat raw, ....etc. We don't suffer cardiac failure. Best still, eating half raw "Hum" or oyster by katties Never heard of Vitamin C, B+, D,.....etc during our times and the only things we know is eating all kinds of wild fruits pluck direct from trees or shrubs. Sometimes I wonder, are these helping us or causing us to be much weaker. Like my 2 chindren, the change of wheather pattern could easily get them to catch flu, cough or even fever. Had spend a lot on all kinds of vitamin pills and they are eating them since young. The question is : Are we becoming weaker after more health concious nowadays or simply are we over stress with our work and our children education?
