  1. A video of an enforcement officer kicking a rider off his personal mobility device along Bedok Reservoir Road has been caught on someone's in-car camera. The e-scooter rider, who probably caught sight of the few officers coming to get him from across the road, tried to evade from the right most lane to the left most. However, the quick-acting enforcement officer managed to deliver WWE superstar Shawn Michaels (HBK)'s sweet chin music move on the poor rider, sending rider into the hedge on the side of the road. The kick might also remind some of the movie '300' where Gerard Butler shouted "THIS IS SPARTA" before delivering the fatal kick... Since PMDs have been banned from footpaths and on the roads, the authorities have been cracking down hard on errant riders.
  2. The gym I use is undergoing renovation and the other 4 nearby gyms have stupid short term pricing so I've been just doing an hour or so walk daily to keep a bit fit. Anyway I walked around Pandan Reservoir today, that's an hour walk, plus the 30 minutes to get there and the 30 minutes back. Nice walk, there are quite a few nice walks around Clementi. But around the reservoir I saw what must have been a 3 meter long Monitor Lizard. In fact it was sooo big I thought it might be a Komodo Dragon. Before I could get my camera out of my back pack the Monitor slid off the rocks into the reservoir. It made an awful lot of splash. Saw a smaller Monitor later on maybe one meter long. I'll have the camera ready in future but don't expect to see it again.
  3. Which of the reservoir park has the most monkeys along the road? Which road? Which park is best for a visit with kids? Thanks for sharing.
  4. I noticed some greenish sludge from inside the brake reservoir. Did not noticed any difference in braking power, brake perform very good. What is this green sludge inside the reservoir, never seen it before.
  5. I noticed that the power steering is producing a whine when cold start, the whine slowly disappears when the engine runs for a few minutes. The power steering reservoir is also having a little foaming, by the way I had the PS fluid flushed, there is no leak anywhere and the workshop has checked but the problem remains. What could be the cause?

[:(] http://www.straitstimes.com/news/singapore/environment/story/hundreds-dead-fish-removed-pandan-reservoir-water-quality-unaffecte Hundreds of dead fish removed from Pandan reservoir; water quality unaffected PUBLISHED ON JUL 28, 2014 8:11 AM 5 125 0 0PRINTEMAIL The fishing and viewing deck at Pandan Reservoir. Hundreds of dead fish have been removed from Pandan Reservoir over the past few days by the authorities, and the clean-up was still ongoing yesterday afternoon. -- PHOTO: PUB BY FENG ZENGKUN ENVIRONMENT CORRESPONDENT Hundreds of dead fish have been removed from Pandan Reservoir over the past few days by the authorities, and the clean-up was still ongoing yesterday afternoon. National water agency PUB told The Straits Times that it had found low levels of dissolved oxygen in the reservoir water, which likely led to the deaths. "This could be caused by a combination of factors such as dry weather, algae growth and decomposing organic matter taking up the dissolved oxygen," said a spokesman. Tests on water samples showed the reservoir's water quality was not affected, but PUB said it would monitor the situation. - See more at: http://www.straitstimes.com/news/singapore/environment/story/hundreds-dead-fish-removed-pandan-reservoir-water-quality-unaffecte#sthash.9bkzNII3.dpuf
  7. By Melody Zaccheus SINGAPORE - A reservoir the size of three badminton courts dating back to 1905 has been discovered by the National Heritage Board. Located off Telok Blangah Road, and not marked out in maps today, it served as a source of water for the Tanjong Pagar Dock. The reservoir, which is an oasis of calm and a green pocket in the built up area, also used to be a swimming pool during the Japanese Occupation, according to Japanese maps of Singapore. Remnants of a diving board and a bathing area still stand today. The place, known to some as the Keppel Hill Reservoir, made the news when two soldiers and a 17-year-old boy drowned there on two occasions in 1936 and 1948. The 2m deep pool of water, which has a working filtration system today, was discovered by a team of researchers from the board in February. The team spent four months piecing together more details about the site from old maps and news stories. A documentary on the place will be uploaded on its website on Thursday. http://www.straitstimes.com/news/singapore/more-singapore-stories/story/abandoned-reservoir-telok-blangah-road-discovered-201409#3

This is the eighth reported death in the reservoir since June 2011. The most recent case was reported in January this year. 12. As long as these canines are on leash, it is alright to bring them to parks or beaches right? Have seen local-looking folks unleashing their pedigree dogs big and small along East Coast Parkway beaches so not really fair to paint the foreigners in a bad light here. Then again really a nuisance to encounter the unleashed doggies running around especially when you are jogging or cycling and some breeds like German Shepards seem to a real menace to other park users though I have never heard of one injuring anyone... From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...for_a_walk.html Posted on 24 Jun 2012 Foreign family ignores sign at reservoir park and takes big dog for a walk STOMPer Merlion Wayfarer encountered some inconsiderate park users at the Lower Peirce Reservoir. They were noisy, rollerblading and had a big dog in tow. According to the sign at the entrance, dogs are not allowed. Said the STOMPer: "Inconsiderate park users who can't read signs. "I met some inconsiderate park users today at the Lower Peirce Reservoir. "The most noisy was this foreign family with four kids. "Two of them bladed all the way from the park entrance to reservoir, while the other two bawled very loudly that you could hear them from the other side of the boardwalk across the reservoir. "The parents were talking loudly to control the kids. "They even had a huge dog which took up half the boardwalk's width in tow. "The weird thing is that obvious signs were placed at the entrances of the boardwalk at both sides, and they chose to ignore them."

  16. SINGAPORE: The body of a Chinese man was found in Bedok Reservoir on Saturday morning. Police said they received a call at about 9:15 am. The body was brought to shore by police. The man was pronounced dead at about 9:45 am by paramedics. Since June, there have been six such incidents in the reservoir. On October 25, the body of a Chinese woman in her late 50s was found floating in the reservoir. The latest incident on Saturday came before members of the Inter-Religious Organisation, community leaders and residents gathered at a floating platform nearby for a blessing of the reservoir.
  17. http://sg.news.yahoo.com/another-man-belie...-reservoir.html The body of a man believed to have drowned in Bedok Reservoir on Saturday has been found, the third such incident at the reservoir in four months.. Officers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) found the body on Monday morning after an unsuccessful search over the weekend. An SCDF spokesman said that they were alerted of a floating body at 8:46am. One fire engine and one ambulance were immediately dispatched to the scene. The man was declared dead at 9:22am. According to The Straits Times, the man is believed to be 33-year-old Indian construction worker Raman Selvam. Reports said that an eyewitness saw him walk into the water and disappear on Saturday afternoon. One witness shouted at Selvam and threw him a life-buoy, but he disappeared into the water about 20 to 30 metres from shore. The police received a call about the incident at about 2:30pm that same day, after which more than ten officers arrived at the scene and sealed off an area spanning four football fields. A number of Civil Defence vehicles and naval divers were also at the scene searching for the body. Despite a four-hour search, the body was still not found. Operations to find the body continued on Sunday at 10:30am, but ceased again at 7:10pm. Selvam was a construction worker from a nearby site, and was married with three children. A fellow worker said that he appeared to be depressed a few days before walking into the reservoir due to family problems. The construction foreman, Huang, 40, said Selvam left at 12pm on Saturday, but did not return. This is the fourth body recovered from Bedok Reservoir in four months. On 20 June, a highly-decomposed partial corpse of Chinese national Lin Xiao, 23, was found. He had been missing since April. Last month, the bodies of Tan Sze Sze, 32, and her three-year-old son, Jerald Chin Le Hui, were found floating in the same reservoir. Both bodies were found dressed in red, and locked in embrace. A nearby resident, Mr Liao, 55, who was at the reservoir when the police and civil defence officers gathered, asked if there had been another drowning.

  19. When I checked my coolant level before servicing, I thought it was quite low..., then upon double checking, realised that the full level marking is quite low in the reservoir. Almost 1/3 of the reservoir, it's full already.. After servicing... some guy gei kiang and top up coolant until its almost full to the brim. Will there be any problems? I'm monitoring the temperature, so far seems quite ok. Should I take away some of the coolant till the full marking? There must be a reason why the full is at 1/3 level right, any advice?
  20. is it fine for the coolent reservoir to be at the brim? excess coolent will go out underneath right?
  21. Evening newspaper reported a housewife seeing a dying fish suspected to be a piranha at lower seletar reservor. She claimed she knew it was a piranha based on a show she saw recently. Hope it is case of mistaken identity of mixing up with the red-bellied also but harmless pacu...
