Feb 24, 2011 No proper rain shelter at Compass Point THE recent wet weather has highlighted that there are no continuous rain shelters at some public places, posing an inconvenience to the elderly as well as parents with young children. An example is the taxi stand in front of Compass Point shopping mall in Sengkang. Can the relevant authorities provide a solution to this problem? Lau Quek Hong

Here in Pasir Ris one of the MSC (with up to level B4 & B5 uncover) is undergoing a major upgrade since last September. 1. Addition of LIFTs for the MSC 2. Installation of Sun Shelter for the top uncovered B5 lots We were given a notice of the upgrading by a Town Council letter. The only complain we knew was the lack of parking space but the TC explained no additional floor can be installed because of technical issue. But Why install LIFT for the MSC and the Sun Shelter for the top uncovered lots. Most of the time we will drop off passengers before we proceed to the upper floor. Hope's that will not translate to an increase of the monthly charges again. Any other HDB MSC has Lift installed ?

HDB just sent a letter informing nearby residents that they are building shelter at my top floor MCP. The thing is after staying here for well over 20years, MCP built like 10 years ago, I have only seen like ONCE the top floor got spill over cars parking there. And that occasion was when PM visit with some mini-carnival. Other then that, nobody is at the top floor, always empty, not even on weekends nor holidays. No monkeys to catch too as many surrounding blocks overlooking it. My question is, who benefit most from this excercise? 1) residents? 2) town council? 3) contractor?

I know bomb shelter is build to protect us. Maybe need some experts debate. I find it defeat the purpose. 1. I rather have a storeroom comparing to bomb shelter. It is because the bomb shelter's door is so damn heavy and so ugly, ended up, i have to spend additional reno cash to have a fixture to cover it. 2. Bomb shelter can protect u from earthquake or attack. Oh come on la, imagine the entire building ganna attack, all the cements cracked, leaving a tall metal building standing, dont the enemy knows that the building got something inside, also, the lever can tell is a door liao. Hiding inside, how long can you hide? I damn dont like the bomb shelter, but bo pian, HDB interior designer /craps to me la.
