  1. Do you agree? What are your thoughts? Systems in Spore are generally very efficient from buses (not so for MRT now) and roads and one of the best airports we are having. your thoughts? ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Finland has emerged as the happiest nation in the world in the sixth World Happiness Report. Norway, which topped the list last year, finished second in the 2018 report, followed by Denmark, Iceland and Switzerland. The report, prepared by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network for the United Nations, ranks countries on six key variables - income, freedom, trust, healthy life expectancy, social support and generosity. The 2018 report focuses on migration within and between countries and was released on March 14, a week ahead of the World Happiness Day. It surveyed 156 countries for their happiness levels, and 117 countries to determine the happiness of immigrants. In Asia, Israel finished first occupying the 11th spot, while United Arab Emirates came second at rank 20, followed by Qatar (32) and Saudi Arabia (33). In Southeast Asia, Singapore was found to be the happiest nation at rank 34, followed by Malaysia (35) and Thailand (46). China is lagging behind its Asian neighbours at 86 in the happiness quotient, while its fellow billion citizen peer, India is seemingly even more unhappy at rank 133. Among other Asian nations, Mongolia was ranked at 94, Vietnam at 95, Indonesia, 96, Bhutan - which was once the happiest - at 97, Nepal at 101, Laos, 110, Bangladesh, 115, Sri Lanka, 116, Cambodia, 120 and Myanmar, 130. http://www.asiaone.com/singapore/singapore-happiest-nation-southeast-asia

  3. 25 happiest countries in the world. . . The UN has declared 20 March the International Day of Happiness, and in commemoration of that, we bring you the 25 happiest countries in the world, as listed in the UN's World Happiness Report for 2013. It's based on life freedom, GDP per capita, generosity, social support, perceived corruption and length of life, and survey respondents were asked to rate both their emotions and lives as a whole. Their answers are then placed on the happiness ranking with an overall score. Singapore ranks at number 30 on the list, the highest among its Southeast Asian regional counterparts as well as above Hong Kong, Japan, China and Taiwan. See the UN's full report here. #25 France #24 Brazil #23 Oman #22 UK #21 Belgium #20 Venezuela #19 Luxembourg #18 Ireland #17 USA #16 Mexico #15 Panama #14 UAE #13 New Zealand #12 Costa Rica #11 Israel #10 Australia #09 Iceland #08 Austria #07 Finland #06 Canada #05 Sweden #04 Netherland #03 Switzerland #02 Norway #01 Denmark From: Yahoo news. 4. What did the result indicate? 1. People now are more contended, focusing more on work-life balance (but still no baby!) 2. Dun earn too much cos it makes you less happy! 3. Desk bound jobs are more stressful! 4. 5. 6.
  5. These are the happiest countries in the world: 1. Denmark > Life satisfaction score: 7.8 > Employment rate: 73% (6th highest) > Self-reported good health: 71% (17th highest) > Employees working long hours: 1.92% (4th lowest) > Disposable income: $23,213 (15th lowest) > Educational attainment: 76% (18th lowest) > Life expectancy: 79.3 (11th lowest) Denmark tops the OECD ranking as the country with the most satisfied citizens among the countries studied by the OECD. At first glance, the reason is not obvious. Denmark ranks no higher than fourth in any of the categories that appear to correlate strongly with overall satisfaction. Yet, in addition to the OECD, organizations such as the World Map of Happiness and the World Database of Happiness have consistently put Denmark at the top of their list of the world
  6. Sometimes, do you guys think that simple folks are the ones who are the happiest?? Just to share...Last night, I went with my Mom for some CNY goodies shopping at the supermarket. Because the carpark was dammed full, Mom went inside to shop while I waited outside in my car. The place I stationed my car was near Joo Seng Food Centre (I stay at Sennett Estate - Joo seng is across the road). I saw this China couple, with their kid... Hubby and Wife was sharing a plate of Economical Rice, with extra rice, while the kid was happily eating an ice cream... The parents looked so loving (in spite that they had obviously gave up having one plate of dinner each just so that that kid can have his ice cream)... stroking the kid's head lovingly and talking to each other with intense smiles..... After dinner, the father hugged the kid lovingly, and the kid kissed his dad on his cheek and face, while clapping his hands... looked really adorable and heart warming.... Dad walked briskly to the bus stop nearby (I reckon he's late for work...) but before he boarded the bus, he waved his wife goodbye, with a flying kiss... Now... that family doesn't have a car, don't even have the means to have a complete dinner, and hubby probably gotta work overtime at night to make ends meet... BUT... they're genuinely happy... Me... drive a decent car, got a job that pays comfortably for my lifestyle, yet i dun feel the inate happiness these ppl does.... Everyday, work stress and the pressure I give myself to attain certain achievements drives me nuts... So to speak, I certainly feel that simple ppl like the family I saw are the happiest lot around... they don't hanker after wealth, status or success, just content with the pure sincerity and love of family bonding.... Sometimes the more you have, they more you wanna attain.. its an endless chase.... Simple folks are able to detach themselves from materialism and stay happy, living life to its fullest... I used to date an artist girlfriend, who is poor in cash but rich in mind and soul... she tried to make me understand that the enrichment of the mind and soul is indeed what makes ppl truly happy... Perhaps now, I start to understand where she's coming from.....
