  1. Sorry for starting a new topic but I am really at a lost of what to do. Went in to JB to have my car installed with new solar film. Handed over my car keys to the shop and proceeded to have coffee at a shop next to it. When it's done, I paid and drove off my car from the shop not realising that the car keys was not handed over to me. I was able to drive the car as it was started while they were putting up the solar film. However, when I reach my next stop, I was not able to lock my car doors and only then did I realised that the car keys were not handed over to me. I called back the shop and they did a search but could not locate it. I suspect that the keys were left on the ledge of the front wind screen and it may have dropped along the way. Had no choice but to get a private charter to send me home to pick up my spare keys and then return to pick up my car. I am looking at duplicating an extra key just for precaution and hence would like someone to enlighten me where and how much it would cost me to get it duplicated. Saw some advertisements in the website with a wide ranging price from $400 to $1,400. Any bros has any good recommendation that can get this fixed at a reasonable price will be very much appreciated.
  2. Hyundai Motor Company Australia has removed the i45 (above) from its lineup and replaced it with the European-styled i40 sedan. The i40 features Hyundai's 'fluidic sculpture' design language, and was launched in Europe initially as an estate with a saloon due later in 2011. Hyundai Australia
  3. It seemed only like yesterday when Hyundai surprised the world with its curvy new Sonata (also known as the I45 in Singapore). Now, the Korean Giant has released its mildly face-lifted Sonata in its home market. Can you spot the difference? The light cosmetic surgery on the exterior brings a revamped front grille with slightly less chrome on top and around the sides. In addition, the rear benefits from new LED taillights. The reshaped mirror casings and a fresh choice of 18-inch alloy wheel designs complete the exterior updates. The mild interior tweaks include new trim options, higher quality materials, addition of LED spot lights and improved standard equipment throughout the range. In South Korea, while the Sonata continues with the 165 hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit, the 2.4 liter gasoline engine gets replaced by a more potent 2.0-liter turbocharged 4 cylinder power plant with a rating of 271 hp. I believe this is the same direct-injected unit that is currently available for the North America market. It is rated at 274 hp in the US. Hyundai has another 2.0 Turbo engine that is utilized in the Hyundai Genesis Coupe but it
  4. Hyundai has sold 493,426 vehicles in 2010 so far, representing a 23% increase over the same period in 2009. Helping Hyundai to achieve such impressive sales figure is non other than the all new Hyundai Sonata, better known as the I45 in Singapore. In November alone, Hyundai sold 40,723 Sonatas, which is up by 45 percent over November 2009. Overall the Sonata has sold over 200,000 units in 2010.

    Turbo Sonata unleashed!

After months of waiting and speculation, the 2.0L turbocharged Sonata with Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) technology has been unveiled at the New York Auto show. The first time we saw a turbocharged direct injection engine in a car from the Hyundai corporate family was the 2008 Kia Koup concept that produced 290 horsepower. This same engine now powers the Sonata to the tune of 274 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. Now, this should spell some seriously good performance figures given that it produces even more horsepower than a Golf R. Of course, we do not expect it to out sprint a Golf R, given the Sonata's sheer size. Like the turbo GDI engines from Ford and the Volkswagen Group, this new turbo Theta II engine has a broad, flat torque curve with the peak being sustained between 1,800 and 4,500 rpm. Hyundai is using a twin-scroll turbocharger like the one used by BMW in its latest engines, which is said to minimizes turbocharger lag while maximizing combustion efficiency and power output. Hyundai is estimating fuel consumption figures of 22 mpg city and 34 mpg highway, which is just marginally less than the non-turbo models on the highway and significantly better than any of the V6 powered competitors. The top of the range 2.0T model shall be equipped with panoramic roof, 18 inch hyper silver alloy wheels, dual exhaust system and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
  6. Coming up in just a few short days will be the official reveal of Hyundai's Sonata Hybrid Blue Drive (HBD), along with a high-line 2.0 liter turbocharged Sonata at the New York Auto Show. Unlike the Camry and Civic hybrids which are barely distinguishable from their conventional counterparts, the Sonata Hybrid gets a completely new front fascia. The new look adds a massive lower grille inspired by the Blue-Will Concept that shown at the Detroit Auto Show in January. This looks much better than the overly chromed fascia of the regular Sonata in my opinion. It is believe the Sonata hybrid will retain the same 2.4-liter direct injected inline-four found in the sedans that are on sale now. However, it may be re-tuned to operate on the more efficient Atkinson cycle like other hybrids. The hybrid system will make use of LG Chem's air-cooled lithium polymer batteries, which is considered to be more stable and flame resistant than the lithium ion cells version that uses liquid electrolyte. Unlike the gas-electrics from Honda and Toyota, Hyundai's system is expected to use a conventional six-speed automatic gearbox in conjunction with a 30 kilowatt electric motor. I guess this will give the Sonata hybrid an edge in driving pleasure as compared to the competitors' CVT equipped models. The Sonata hybrid and a range-topping gasoline 2.0-liter turbo model will both be revealed during a live video webcast on HyundaiMediaLive.com at 1:35pm on Wednesday, March 31. I am looking forward to the 2.0 turbo model, which is expected to incorporate both direct injection and continuous variable valve timing technologies and is good for around 200bhp.
