  1. The SAF Pledge We, members of the Singapore Armed Forces, do solemnly and sincerely pledge that we will always bear true faith and allegiance to the President and the Republic of Singapore. We will always support and defend the Constitution. We will preserve and protect the honour and independence of our country with our lives. So says the SAF pledge which many of us have been saying throughout our NSF & reservist days. My question is why are we pledging our allegiance to the President? Is it because he is the head of state? What about the PM or the Defence Minister who is the head of MINDEF & of course SAF. And the allegiance to the Republic of Singapore is to her people or the government of the day? Other than comments from fellow MCFers bros & sis, any constitutional experts to comment?

  4. 4 DAYS TO GO before the Day of Awakening, our Elections Day. Some of you have decided and some have not, some support PAP, most don't. Regardless which party you support, it will make a difference in our future and our children's future. I made a mistake by changing my decision last minute at the Polling Station in the last election and I regretted deeply. This time, I have pledged my vote and I vow to stick to it. Here it goes... I solemnly pledge myself before God and in the presence of my fellow Singaporeans, to hand in my vote for what is right for the future of Singapore. I will not vote because of personal gains and benefits received from any party, and will not vote to harm my generation and future generation of Singaporeans to come. With loyalty, I will endeavor to aid the party that I support, in their work, and cast my vote for them." For those, who has decided, please join me in this thread and say,"I PLEDGE"
  5. Take a look at the national pledge. Almost every single verse of the pledge has been broken by the PAP. Democratic society - PAP use GRCs and NMPs to control the growth of oppositions and limit chances for Singaporeans to vote. Is this democratic and building a democratic society? All PAP is interested is to stay in Power. Justice and equality - Where is the justice and equality when PAP continue to treat residents staying in opposition wards like Hougang and Potong Pasir differently via upgrading programs just because they vote opposition? Where is the justice and equality when PAP treat FT better than Singaporeans? One united people regardless of race, language or religion - Did PAP really treat Singaporeans as one united people? Fact is LKY still continue to doubt our fellow Malays of their loyalty and that has not help at all. Happiness, prosperity and progress - I think this part is more for PAP than the rest of the Singaporeans and the country as a whole. Sometimes I dont know where their conscious have gone to. As mentioned by some members here, old auntie and uncle collecting used cardboards to earn some money in order to survive. Where is their happiness, prosperity and progress?

  7. Did not our singapore pledge say'...so as to achieve happiness, prosperity and progress' but y aren't our ppl happy despite the seeming prosperity which also is not evenly spread and progress which again is self acclaim but see we lose out to the koreans, taiwanese and china. if we singaporeans are not happy, then 45 yrs of nation building is down the drain, we have not attain the objective the nation 1st sought out to to do after 45 byrs and the very thing we force kids and ourselves to repaeat every morning.
  8. Received an sms from Singtel at 1:13pm. 'Calling all Singaporeans to recite the Singapore pledge...Proudly brought to you by NDP 09 and Singtel.' Interrupted my lunch with such an sms? What is the significance of reciting the Singapore pledge? Singapore will become a better place for all after reciting the pledge? Pledge take all you want, with the people at the floating platform. Leave the rest of us alone. With very over jealous organisers, some things can get really get overboard. Whoever is the wise guy who thought of this idea ought to be fired.
