  1. Have you guys reach a point where sometimes u feel taking leave is wasting your life away? More for people who has family (kids) where your life evolves around them. When you take leave and your wife did not take and you have to clear leave. Your good friends all have their own families and work so it's really yourself on your leave days. Pretty depressing... Rotting away at home and not travelling.
  2. http://www.theguardian.com/cities/2014/jul/10/helsinki-shared-public-transport-plan-car-ownership-pointless "Helsinki's ambitious plan to make car ownership pointless in 10 years"
  3. I've never posted such incident before but... Dear Motorist, Yes you have a big bike, probably a fast one, maybe a superbike? I'm sorry I cannot tell as I know nuts about bikes. But please note that not every car that travels the same speed as you and in a spirited way means they want to race with you....esp with your Girlfriend as your pillion. You got a goddamn bike, why take on a car? We met in Thompson rd. I was minding my own business and enjoying my ride. I know I passed you and your GF (not by cutting into your lane though) but I didn't know if my presence have made an impression on you, cos You started to go after me. I didn't bother since I didn't offend you or what. But if I did unintentionally stepped on your tail, I apologize. Then you came weaving in and out....come to my front, keep looking back and lup your exhaust on me, then speed off. I was like WTF? At Nee Soon camp, we were side by side at the lights, I was rather pissed so I was thinking to see how fast you can go. GREEN. Yes you sped off with a strong first gear and light weight as an advantage in an upslope while I played catchup. But by my 3rd gear I got the momentum to keep up, by my 4th gear I've closed the gap and ready go to your side while I can heard your bike screaming it's lungs out, but seeing my Speedometer hitting that magic speed limit I set for myself and seeing your dear GF clinging so hard on your bike that her skirt almost flying up; I woke up my senses, let go the pedal, braked and stop chasing.... Motorist with bike **3*44X. Although I admit I was lured by your actions, I beg you to THINK before you do such stunts.....as least THINK for your dear GF, don't wager her life in such pointless sprints.. Good day to you..
  4. i don't see the point of living i see war, fighting, disease and natural disasters everywhere... it seems like everyone is living just to feel pain even for those who are living in a happy environment... how long will this happiness last... the more you have fun and love your life the more pain you feel at the end everyone has this incurable disease called aging when i go past all these old folks in singapore i wonder what they are feeling how abt those old folks in the aged home... they must be in so much pain even though some don't show it old ppl picking up cans at the street, rich old ppl being brought around by maids cos they are too frail to walk anymore.... i sense the feeling of pain everywhere i go yes i do see happy ppl.... like those watching world cup and jumping around... ok this is not a good example cos i also don't understand how seeing ppl kicking a ball around can make these ppl so happy... anyway happy ppl like happy old folks playing with their grand kids and stuff... is this happiness gonna last... or will it eventually collapse as it always does the really unlucky ones i guess are those who have really been loved by someone special and this special person passes away making life completely meaningless for the person. i am currently wondering what is so great about living... all it gives you is pain......... sooner or later.... anyway i hope the bros here can make me understand why living is not as bad as i think it is.... thank you in advance
  5. By pointless, I mean ..... 1 - No improvement to car's performance, functionality or looks 2 - Claims to do something but doesn't 3 - Marginal difference but not worth the investment or effort 4 - Sounds like a good idea on paper but sucks in real life The car device can be factory fitted or aftermarket One really silly one I encountered is an automatic belt tightener in conti cars. It gives the passengers an abrupt jerk everytime they fasten up. (1&4) Voltage stabilizers are imo something cars can live happily with or without (1,2 or 3) Bodykits and spoilers are subjective cases (1 or 3)
  6. I was wondering whether you guys do multiple layers for your sealants or waxes. I realised that no matter how many layers of sealant you apply, the slick and thick feel will surely disappear after a super HEAVY downpour. When I ran my fingers across the paintwork, the paint feeling became very thin and not slick the least bit. So I decided to just AIO and wack one layer of sealant like Klasse or 2180. After the rain, the feeling is the same as compared to 3-4 layers of whatever protection. I always thought that layering and layering will give a super thick gloss and protection but the bloody rain so powerful can wash off everything damn it! What you guys think? Polik kings Maddriver? Coltagious?
  7. Always felt the 2nd gen Beetle was quite pointless (and over here in sunny S'pore, a downright ripoff) and of late, reaching it's "sell-by" date - so here's an effort by Vee-Dub to prolong its shelf-life. But, hey, don't let me biased opinion sway anyone here. just check out the following marketing blurb (which, by the way, I never cease to be amazed by how mktg blurbs can make the most pointless thing in the world sound desireable......) And, oh, considering that the base 1.6 Beetle costs about as much as a Mondeo here, anyone care to hazard a guess as to how much this one will cost when is comes here ? New Beetle convertible arriving in Europe in the first quarter of 2003 Unique design and convertible fun for four people Safety system featuring automatically deploying rollover protection There is a bright start to 2003 in store for convertible drivers with the New Beetle convertible due on the European market in the first quarter. Volkswagen's new model continues its tradition of four-seater open-air bestsellers. The New Beetle follows in the footsteps of two of the highest-selling cabrios in the world, the Golf convertible and Beetle convertible. Its design is absolutely distinct and symbolises status-free fun. The New Beetle convertible is refreshing and progressive in the way it interprets the positive character of the classic Beetle convertible which made history as the first classless Volkswagen. The new convertible's emotional values and technical features reflect open travel as an attitude to life in general. The concept of the New Beetle convertible combining extremely high torsional rigidity with fully fledged rear seating, featuring a through loading facility, a rollover protection system that deploys automatically in an accident, the all-season top including heated glass rear window and an optional six-speed automatic demonstrates how very safe, comfortable and suitable for everyday use a lifestyle-oriented vehicle can be. Special paint finishes developed for the New Beetle convertible add a new splash of colour to everyday motoring. With Aquarius Blue, Mellow Yellow und Harvest Moon to list just a few, it is clear from the names alone that a positive and appealing character is an essential feature of this car. The New Beetle convertible will be available in Germany with a choice of four engines - three petrol engines and one TDI - ranging in power output from 55 kW / 75 bhp to 85 kW / 115 bhp. The top engine can be combined with the new six-speed (Tiptronic) gearbox. The technical highlights of the convertible design are in the body engineering and the operation of the cloth-lined three-layered top. Just like the former Beetle convertible, the open soft-top rests on the area of the imaginary C pillar. This design is deliberately reminiscent of the classic Beetle Convertible. However, when folded down the top lies much lower thanks to an elaborate folding system. The top is opened using an one-hand release mechanism. It can then be put into its resting position. In the case of the electrohydraulic system the convertible top opens and closes at the press of a button, taking only 13 seconds each way. A luxury trim strip traces the elegant unbroken line formed by the window lines and the transition between the top and body. The automatically deploying roll over protection has been harmoniously integrated into the silhouette of the open convertible. The system is located behind the rear seat back. A rollover and crash sensor detects when the car is in danger of rolling and triggers the protection system. When this happens two profiled supports spring out and together with the windscreen frame these protect the passenger compartment. The passive safety items, including effective front and side airbags and energy-absorbing side panels designed especially for the convertible, are combined with proven active safety equipment. In Germany the New Beetle convertible is equipped with side airbags, ABS, and ESP as standard.
