certainly we are really over staffed at the higher management.. We can do away the MM and SM, and only keep one DPM. Not forgetting a small area of GRC needs so many MP.

IIRC no other world class govs have so many ex-PMs in their cabinets.

 

Their main role, as I understand it, iis supposed to provide their wisdoms to & share their experiences with the younger ministers as well as to mentor them.

 

So without them our A-team will become B-team?

 

But judging from the latest controversial issues on racial integration & ministerial terms respectively raised by some of them but rebutted by PM & his team, one will wonder of their relevance in today's context....

 

BTW, there are also others like LSS, LBH, LHH & HCH entrenched in the PMO so it is really a super heavy-weight office.

 

And mind you their paychecks comes from you & me, the tax payers....

I do remember our PM compare with USA president that the USA president after retire can still earn handsomely with talks, lectures and boks, while our minister don't to justify the high salary. But he can become SM,or MM and still be earning obscene salary after retirement.

 

What I think that none of the minister including himself will be sought after for talks and books (probably won't sell well). So better to create psuedo job like SM to ensure high income after retirement.

One thing for sure....the MM has being keeping quite lately.

Which is good as it allows the PM and its new crew to defend themselves and to proof their worth, without needing the MM to come out to correct anything!
