Yet another CMI BlueSG driver causes an accident by running a red light and getting t-boned by another car

Touch your heart and tell me the worst type of driver on the road - In most cases, it's either car-sharing drivers or the drivers of the lethal red car plate + p-plate combination.  IMO, car sharing drivers are the worst type of drivers as they lack both driving experience and skills and also simply don't give a d@mn about the publicly-shared car. Watch this video here: What Happened? A BlueSG leisurely ran a red light signal along Outram Road and got t-boned HARD b

Yet another BMW driver with a ‘dgaf’ attitude almost hits schoolchildren at a pedestrian crossing

TL;DR – BMW 216I nearly hits school children at a pedestrian crossing in a school zone after blatantly ignoring two traffic marshals.   A 14-year-old boy whom a BMW had hit in Punggol passed away yesterday after 3-weeks in hospital. You would think some people would be more careful on the roads after such a tragedy. Not this driver (coincidentally, the culprit in question drives a BMW 216I). Watch this 50-second video to understand why some people are fuming mad with thi

Yamaha makes a humanoid robot that can ride a bike without falling

We have no idea why they would want to invest the time and money in autonomous riding, but it seems like Yamaha feels there is a future in this area. Using a custom Yamaha R1M, with balance rods on the side, Yamaha introduced to us its humanoid robot, Motobot in the video below.   As of now, the robot is still in its infant stage, but its inventors and programmers believe that the robot will be able surpass biking champion, Valentino Rossi, who is riding for Yamaha in Moto GP now, in terms of

X4 is ready for production

BMW has finally released details of the X4. But while pictures of it have surfaced, those who wish to get up close and personal will have to wait till end of next month, when the car will make its public debut at the New York Auto Show.   It is not hard to see why BMW terms it 'Sports Activity Coupe' or SAC. The X4, in essence, is a slantback X3. The X4 also shares its technical blueprint with its 'smaller' brother.   Dimensionally, the X4 will be 14mm longer and sits 37mm closer to the

WRC driver breaks longest jump record

World Rally Championship driver Eyvind Brynildsen has broken the record for the longest jump at Colin's Crest in this year's Swedish rally. He flew 45 metres, beating Thierry Neuville and Ken Block who only managed to cover 44 metres and 37 metres respectively in previous years.   Brynildsen walks away with this year's Colin's Crest Award, named in honor of the late Colin McRae. His Ford Fiesta RS rally car was said to be flat out in fifth gear doing almost 165km/h before the jump which is si

WRC - The forgotten motorsport?

When motorsports is mentioned, most people will think of the glitz and glamour of Formula One. After all, it is the most high-profile of all motorsports out there.   But I'm sure that there are some fans of other kinds of motorsports, like the rough and tumble of rallying. Specifically, the World Rally Championship.   The 2011 World Rally Championship is now three events old, but it's just such a pity that there's very little local coverage or interest.   I've always been a fan of the WRC,

Would you rally your new Porsche 911 GT3 RS?

It is normal to see supercar owners treat their vehicles as pieces of gold and rarely drive them. However, someone with a Porsche 911 GT3 RS doesn't believe in such things.   Not exactly a cheap car, the S$700,000 or so sports car has found itself an owner that prefers to drive the car hard. While this is not what we have in mind when we say 'hard', you can't fault the owner for not wasting the GT3 RS away in a garage with minimal miles.   Likely inspired by the infamous ‘Tax The Rich’ serie

Would you prefer heavy or light rain?

It looks like the wet weather is here again. Usually, at the time of writing this blog, I would be running at East Coast Park but my plan has to be shelved due to the light drizzle. Coming back to the topic of automobile, it is frustrating to be caught in the rain while driving, especially after a thorough car wash. Personally, I prefer to be caught in a heavy downpour rather than a light drizzle, provided that I am not caught in a flood. Below is the reason why.   The rain water itself will

Would you care if the Maserati Kubang is based on a Jeep?

Fiat's taking over of Chrysler has given fruit to a new Maserati. The Maserati Kubang SUV concept is production ready and it will be the luxury brand's foray into the luxury SUV market. One which is populated by the Porsche Cayenne, Range Rovers and other large SUVs that are full of leather, wood, 22 inch wheels that their owners hardly take off-road. Anyway, the issue is that the underpinnings of this luxury SUV will come from a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Is that something sacrilegious? To base a Mas

World's most expensive tyres can buy you a Condominum

A set of Michelin Super Sport tyres for a Bugatti Veyron will set you back around S$40,000. 40 grand? Yup, that is the price to pay for when you want the tyres to be able to withstand a thousand horsepower and a maximum speed of more than 400km/h. But that is nothing compared to the world's most expensive set of tyres.   Made by Z Tyre, this set has been sold for a crazy S$810,000. And that is enough to put them in the Guinness Book of World Records for the title of the 'World's Most Expensiv

World's biggest dump truck

Men are constantly amazed by wonders - some straight from the natural world, while a good part of them are man-made. Arguably most of these man-made features serve purposes, but of course many are just 'overkill' attempts to keep themselves entertained. Think the tallest architectures, fastest machines, etc. Here we have one of the biggest machinery that rolls on Earth - Dump trucks. And it just got bigger.   Capable of carrying and tugging around 496 tonnes of earth on its back, the Bela
