Not really true - I have some originals that skip on some tracks - but after ripping with error correction, the "fresh" re-written CD-R doesn't anymore and the highs seem sweeter

Bro Jeff, yes pls, bring back some nice Hindi CDs, especially instrumentental types, you will never know they can surprise you..i have got one or two Indian tracks that are good...

This is not the days of analogue, where quality degrades when transfering sound from tape to tape. If you do an exact digital copy of your CDs to CDRs (CD -> wav -> CD-R), nothing will change. Best of all, if you got a scratched up original, you can try to coerce the computer to read, and re-read the tracks (use software like cd-paranoia), and then when you burn the data back to the CDR, it will work better than the original.

 

So long as you don't do it like, CD -> MP3 -> CD-R, then guaranteed no loss of quality at all.

 

The only thing you have to worry about is the fact that CD-Rs don't last as long as CDs. Possibly 10 years of lifetime compared to CD's 99 years.

Let's do another review while I am free. This time, on female vocals, her name is Rebecca Pigeon.

 

Gotten this SACD from NDV on Monday, did a run on Ernest's system in his shop, listened to track 1 "Spanish Harlem" and track 13 "Auld Lang Syne/Bring It On Home To Me". Track 1's bass runs deep and soothing, Rebecca's voice is crispy and displays a sense of youth. Clean and refreshing, that is how I will describe.

 

Track 13 is amazing esp come this Christmas, Rebecca started the song by talking some poems, the rythm Auld Lang Syne (ALS) set in at the front stage while the piano at the rear stage...from there ALS is transited to Bring it On Home to Me. Afterwhich, Rebecca and another singer (I guess is her again) sang both songs at the same time, I was surprised how both songs can be fusion so nicely.

 

From Chesky records, this is their review:

bro i have heard that exact same song the SPANISH HARLEM on another disc which is used by the RODEK distributor in Indonesia, they used that track for test disc~~~ fantastic vocal performance

I was at Hong Kong cafe @ east coast rd....heard a female singer singing xu guan jie, wang jie etc songs in canto. quite nice. asked the waitress and she was a hk singer named meng liu (dream six). cd was brought in by her hk boss. any1 seen this cds of this singer here?

I have been paying attention to off mainstream singers from HK but have not notice any artist by this name as yet. Anyway to provide more info, like the name of the album? Best is to take a pic of the album cover and post it in this thread, it will make the search more fruitful, I would like to hear it myself too.

 

By the way, what does the cafe serves? I want to go leh...where exactly?

not too sure....waitress says she's from HK. Didn't managed to really take a good look at the CD. Only remember the packaging is black. I'll go ask again when I go back to the cafe.

 

The cafe serves mainly food from HK. Desserts too. Heard the yuan yang not bad. It's along east coast road....quite near to still road where there's this big mobil station.

I was first introduced to these label about 5 years ago by Ernest from NDV, the recording is really superb, Lukie102 can sample if you wish too, now I know what you have been referring...

Folks that like jazz(not the Honda "Jazz"), you must know Oscar Peterson. He plays fine piano and his quintet is remarkable. This is one album I fell in love with because of the lively mood I experience whilst listening to it at home on my B&W spearkers. All songs are nicey nice, if you are into jazz, this is one album you can't miss and must have.

 

Total of 10 tracks lasting 77 mins 42 sec long. Don't expect to see 24bit, DSD recording on the CD over, the label speaks for itself, produced under "Verve", Universal Music.
