The Label is Really Useful Records (picture of a swiss knife)...you have that? 24-bit digitally remastered at Abbey Road Studios, London.

Me too!! [laugh]

Well, I'm not sure if we need to feel that guilty coz the main aim of the mix tape is to provide exposure to budding artists.

In fact, I read that there's a huge queue to ensure that the mixed tape lasts to even no. 20.

Great chill out music.

I didn't know Eva Cassidy mati liao [shocked] .

For me one of my all time fav vocal is Carol Kidd, listen to it almost everyday year ago. She has the warmest, motherly voice that i've come across.

That song "When I Dream" was the reference demo song many years back & till now I have not gotten sick of it.

When i went for Carol Kidd's private charity function some 2 yrs back.. she was grasping for breath .. i think she maybe going OD soon...

Better enjoy her while she is still around...

when i learn that she died i also shock [shocked] but not as sad as her music path she took.being very unknown during her lifetime and the gear she used very much what she could afford.

whats a $20 cd in compare to a 10k ICE/home system without great musicians.

support these hardworking artists, their talents, efforts and dreams in a limited life time.

As promised the last time round, I would like to review this particular latest CD called "Acoustic Journey" from 林志炫

Now, there are two versions to this Chinese Pop CD, the limited edition one comes with a VCD as shown on the attachment below.

Well, I was given an evaluation copy from my buddy that knew I have been looking for 林志炫's latest album and he didn't disappoint me at all. I have been listening to this 林志炫's CD for the past one week or so already.

I will comment this CD on its own without making reference to his previous works with his partner. Firstly, the recording to me is clean, it was very nicely mastered. I could sense the hard work they have put it to make this album special and I must say, commercial CD recordings should use this particular album as reference or benchmark. lipsrsealed.gifsly.gif

So, which tracks do I like??? Seriously, I find this question difficult to answer, to me, this whole album is really very nice but....but...I am recommending that if you are visiting one of those CD shops to evaluate before you buy, try these few tracks first...if it doesn't prompt you to buy, don't do so for my sake...I dun earn commission out of this writings. wink.gif

OK, now, try track 1, 3, 7, 8 & 11. The most important factors of all is 林志炫's vocal is surprisingly clean with no exagggerated "s" sound which is sometimes quite normal and irritating on some other CDs I have heard and which makes you wonder whether your tweeter settings are too high, fear not. The instruments, especially accoustic guitar remains the main focus throughout the album while the percussion is also neat and tight. The rhythm throughout the album is about 70% fast tracks and 30% slower makes which deem it a wonderful CD to listen to while driving with your car windows wind down to work or back home. Try it wink.gif.

hi bro ,

jus som contribution to add in to yours. I have been listening to 林志炫 for a very long time. I love his crisp clear voice and at the same time it is very very powerful for a man with high note~~ and yes i agree that you might think it's ur tweets but it's just his natural voice, yes IT IS THAT HIGH. I still have some of his collection with me , even in my notebook.

There is one particular acoustic version of SHUNZA's number that he did but i cant rem the title. Is it in that Acoustic album ?

Bro Jeff, I am not quite familiar with Shunza's number, after refering to the info on the CD, there were no tell tale signs that he was singing her songs as well. In essence, this album is a recollection of his previous works rearranged and one or two new works, that's about it. Cheers and happy meh meh-ing around.
