Did my embossed number plates at $60 a set in 2003. The plate is made of aluminium and the characters are etched out with chemicals. From what I understood, they supply plates to C&C.

Do they do Euro style plates? like a blue vertical strip and the rest is yellow? Its german-style if i'm not wrong. Are they illegal in SG?
See it on a car b4, but I thhink that's illegal. Please confirm this with LTA.

Hi,

There are many readily available samples. Take a look at the Mitsubishis. The plates are made from this company. Better still, pay them a visit.

The embossed number plates (aka Euro plates) on new Mitsubishi cars are made from aluminium. If you turn to the rear of the plate, aluminium plates exhibit a smooth texture with a matte sheen. They come with a plstic number plate holder.

For the embossed plates, there are cheaper variants available too. However the plate is often heavier than the aluminium ones because plate is made from a mixture of metals (i.e. not pure aluminuim which is more expensive). Plates which are fabricated with a mixture of metals usually have a rough texture. Some may appear very shiny, some may appear very rough.

For some embossed silver character on black background plates, a black sticker is pasted over the metal plate. After the characters are embossed, the sticker (shaped according to the characters) is removed, exposing the silver metal (& hence the characters). If u notice the embossed plates provided by Kah Motors and Borneo Motors on the Hondas and Toyotas from SDG to SDK series, they are fabricated using this method. Some of the black sticker has peeled or discoloured with age.

For the plates from Chuan Heng, you will not get these problems. Better still, pay them a visit. They may have some inferior grade emboseed number plates which are discarded by the owners when they make a new set of plates with them.
