Ferrari7 Neutral Newbie October 22, 2005 Share October 22, 2005 at 110km/h in NSH, you may fall asleep and buses will want to overtake you best is to travel 130km/h +- so that you will be far away from those buses and will also keep you await . . . . . agree tt 130kmh is a very decent speed to maintain on nsh.. . .but let me share 1 interesting experience. . . . was doing 130+kmh on nsh towards sg one night, when this empty Scania coach tailgated me downhill. i kept left to let it overtake which it did, at freaking 140+!! then we hit an uphill n i think e coach was flooring but it could only do 120+kmh. the driver was quite considerate, kept left, so i overtook it at the top of the crest. My goodness, on the down slope, the same coach started tailgating me again! so i kept left, he overtook, uphill he keep left i overtake. . . . tis overtaking game repeated 4 times before i got fed-up, said bye bye n floored to 170kmh to pull away from our friend. the coaches these days. . . Completed the 8 hour drive in 6 hours.... Was racing to get back before dark because it was a rental car and had to return before 9pm.... otherwise 1 more day charge.... 120 MPH is about 195 KMH. Was very thrilling.. but was quite scary going around bends and curves and can feel car like on verge of slipping.... Mecham like Initial D... Mountain Racing... Also becuase it was in mountains there were serveral places with crevice and about 100-200m of metal bridges. Can feel surface become more slippery when flying over the bridge... Falling of the bridge is about 50m drop.... Car was a Pontiac Sunfire... Small compact car... but surely got lots of horses inside, never even floor the padel and can hit those speeds. 2.2L with 140hp. Think it was kenna trashed when I returned it... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pontiac_Sunfire In SG, 7 yr old Lancer floor the accelerator and car can barely hit 120kmh. I think maybe the coach is trying to keep to his time schedule and speed of 110km/h. Being heavy and on diesel, going up hill is actually quite difficult for them so they need to gather the momentum. Downhill 140+ and uphill 120+, with all the momentum, the loss the different is already 20. Just wondering the difference if they were to travel at 110+, without the momentum, maybe they speed becomes 70km/h going up hill ! At that speed, many more cars will try to overtake them and that becomes dangerous. But of course, straight road 140+ ... too dangerous! Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
