Quantum 5th Gear December 1, 2005 Share December 1, 2005 I saw a lot of Malaysia cars with very big exhaust Pipe diameter, can it increase engine power? ↡ Advertisement
Jonjees 1st Gear December 1, 2005 Share December 1, 2005 depends on how big a diameter. For automatic cars too big will result in a lost of backpressure thus lost of power. For manual cars also depending on the downpipe and entire exhaust pipes diameter will increase power. I read somewhere that the recommended exhaust diameter for automatic cars would be 2.25" to 2.5" But if you are referring to the tail pipe of the exhaust, that can sometimes be cosmetics. I am replying cos i dont know much but trying to clock 25 posts :p

Luv_presea 1st Gear December 1, 2005 Share December 1, 2005 cosmetics can be seen easily. but not for all la.. and if it's cosmetic, the sound of the exhaust won't change. still very quiet. i think the sound will get loud when u change muffler. aka silencer. i dun know too much either. but that's what i know. haha.. Koren Clutched December 1, 2005 Share December 1, 2005 for a 1.6 litre manual.. 2" piping will be best.. for auto.. 1.75 is the max.. else it'll lose power..
Koren Clutched December 1, 2005 Share December 1, 2005 tail pipe doesnt make much of a difference.. its the header->downpipe->muff.. that makes the difference..
Turbonetics 2nd Gear December 1, 2005 Share December 1, 2005 I saw a lot of Malaysia cars with very big exhaust Pipe diameter, can it increase engine power? there are some which is just those fake one...they put another on it.... maybe thay have turbo inside...that's why need bigger exhaust system... cos i know lotsa protons in malaysia are very fast one... Jonjees 1st Gear December 1, 2005 Share December 1, 2005 depends on cars model and engine type, some cars just cant handle large diameter downpipes and straight thru exhaust. Even for mufflers, there was once when at fongkim this jaguar owner had a twin remus fitted but was verified by factory to have caused a lost of backpressure, thus low end was affected badly. So it was removed or changed to another remus model. sound does not equals to power thou, that much I am sure. I am also happy i can reply and clock another post, I am that much closer to

Jonjees 1st Gear December 1, 2005 Share December 1, 2005 for some new cars its 2.25" stock on automatic/steptronic. manual cars straight thru is the best but not more than 2.5" but its illegal thou so please dont quote me, i just want 25 posts

Ncss Clutched December 2, 2005 Share December 2, 2005 Exhaust depends on engine capacity, not necessary big size better power because of back pressure. Just right size is best. But Turbo engine is different story, bigger exhaust increase the power.

Luv_presea 1st Gear December 2, 2005 Share December 2, 2005 not sure about the remus.. but this is really bassy.. very very low sound.. very smooth too.. not like some others that sounds like the exhaust is breaking apart.. ↡ Advertisement
