I heard from my friend (in Borneo) that it is coming in at second half of 06. Might have a 2.0 model. Currently the Japan side is showing a 2.4 model. So I planned to look see look see first. Have to hold onto my Galant for a bit longer...

The front grill looks like the old G9 corolla.

Saw the car at one of the PIs today, it looks much better in real life. The car is spacious and long, side and rear view looks like a Lexus.

 

The interior looks like the Mark X, esp the center console.

I also saw the new Camry at the showroom. I must say that is looks far better than the previous Camry. It was parked side by side with a Mark X, and it looks much bigger, even though if you look at the specs, it is just marginally bigger, I think about 8cm longer and 5 cm wider.

 

I like the rear as it is kinda like the GS300 which also kinda like the Hyundai Sonata.

 

I have no doubts that it will sell like hotcakes, Camry will sell just on it's name.

 

In terms of engineering, the Mark X is better though. You get a RWD, 6 auto gear box, with a Dual VVTi direct injection 2.5v6 engine producing 215hp and 260Nm ! This contrast with the 2.4 inline4 of the Camry, producing about 167hp and 230Nm. And to top it all, the Mark X is actually cheaper than the Camry !!! This is weird !?

I don't like Toyota and I hope they continue to design car with Ah Pek look like the current Camry and Altis.

Wow bro, i fully agreed with you!!!! The new camry are all in one but kind of think back its worth it to get the new camry as you pay for one car price but get all different kind of car look....

Ha ha, this is funny ! It is now Altis from Daihatsu. Wonder is STS will sell it ? Then BM will be in trouble lor.

Heard from one of the PI that the JDM model is a 5 speed auto, keyless entry and HID. Not sure how accurate it is . But for export model from BM, I doubt these features will be available .
