Theobserver 2nd Gear January 25, 2006 Share January 25, 2006 Since we are on the topic of traffic offences, please allow me to voice my frustration here. I visited my auntie who stays in Siglap like I always do on a Sunday. It is a semi-d along one of those small roads turning off from Upp East Coast Road. My brother's car was parked in the car porch and he wanted to leave the house to go home. As my car was parked outside the gate I vacated the lot to allow him to come out of the gate. Since my brother dilly dally, I reverse-parked my car in front of a neighbour's terrace house with his permission so that I can go in to finish off my dinner. In front of the gate is a grass patch on both sides, the usual type outside terrace houses. The width of the grass patch is enough to fit one car, like a parking lot. I was shocked to find, upon finishing my dinner that the Cisco buggers booked my car. I confronted them and they say the neighbour on the opposite side complained. However, he complained of a car that parked along the road kerb that obstructed his car from coming out and not my car. Anyway we know the neighbour too and he wouldn't complain my car. They asked me to appeal as they cannot erase from their pdas. By the way, they charged me under "Parking in a manner as to cause unnecessary obstruction to other road users". So after receiving TP letter, I wrote to TP to explain. I even attached the neighbour's letter to say he gave me permission to park outside his house. The appeal was rejected and so I went to TP personally to interview with the officer. That guy say that it is still public road although outside the gate and asked me to write another appeal to say I am remorseful blah blah blah, which I did. Recently, I received another rejection. It says they note that I have made numerous appeals, did I ? And that they treat parking violations very seriously, as in as seriously as drunk driving ? They say if I want a recourse, I can go the Court No. don't-know-what to see the magistrate. I don't think I have the energy to do all these and I think the magistrate may even punish me further. Also I don't know what I can say there as I have already admitted in my re-appeal that I am wrong. I just want some empathy and that TP can give me a chance this time round. The neighbour who complained says that he want to go see the MP if my appeal is rejected. Anyway, I just pay the $70 and suah lah. Very disappointed with the system. Justborn Neutral Newbie January 25, 2006 Share January 25, 2006 Feel sorry for you. very strange system indeed firstly, booked for parking in front of friend's house and only obstructed him. secondly, TP suggested re-appeal using remorse as reason. maybe can write to the press.. Theobserver 2nd Gear January 26, 2006 Share January 26, 2006 Thanks guys for all your support. I also thought of going to the press, not to take issue with it but to let other landed property owners know that there is such an offence as the owners themselves sometimes do that as they may have more than one car. By the way, as I was not obstructing any traffic, I reckon that "other road users" would mean pedestrians or cyclists.
Qpik Supercharged January 26, 2006 Share January 26, 2006 sometimes i really doubt the cisco story. if yr aunty neighbour wanted to come out, they would have horned & people who parked their car would definitely come out & reverse their car rite. it is not like yr aunty happened to stay in Everitt Road rite or her neighbours machiam like those in Everitt Road then too bad liao.
