Sturtles 6th Gear April 12, 2006 Share April 12, 2006 (edited) You know what? Mitusbishi is dead... their only good car is the evo, all others are uncomparable cars to the new civic, latio, slyphy, integra, markx, legacy, blah blah blah even with the evo, they have to use brembo brakes, bilstein suspension, momo wheels and pioneer HU... what does mitsubishi make... aircon, 10 yr old engine on a 6 yr old car body, and some sensors with computer aids Edited April 12, 2006 by Sturtles
Mzrmazda3 6th Gear April 12, 2006 Share April 12, 2006 saw the papers today, they were talking about how it has turned from an ugly duckling to a swan. which do you prefer... for me, i'd like the sylphy more but, i still have doubts on its FC. heard the FC for Sylphy is lower than usual. the honda civic is always a great car, but, i think its too low.. I would get the 2.0L Civic (M)

Jamesgetz 4th Gear April 12, 2006 Share April 12, 2006 (edited) S$74K can get you a 2l Hyundai Sonota, or if you must have Toyota, S$66K for the Altis 1.8A (Celica engine). Seriously, no Sonata for me. I feel $74k for sonata is overpriced. If you got chance to see the new Megentis in metal you'll understand. The photos does not do justice. At $67.5k, you can get extras like electric seat, DVD screen, backlit meter on top of the usual accompliment of leather interiors and reasonable built. If you are lucky, you can get Sunroof for free. Otherwise top up 2k to get one. I was a harsh critic of the previous Megentis, but this new one has improved by leaps and bound and almost won me over. Front bonnet and boot both have gas absorbers. The front look may be subjective (I'm not a fan of this design, I prefer Sonata's front) but I like the rear. The body curves, and built looks and feel very very european. The interior however ain't that fantastic. But I still feel it is better layout than Sonata. Its material also feels more upclass than Sonata. Both front passenger has vanity mirror lamps. The model we receive here comes in with tone brown/beige. Personally, I dont find it attractive. The dark ash grey/black interior would look smarter. But I must give credit to the materials used on the buttons and switches. It feels solid. Some Japs buttons aren't even as good (Mazda's for example feels flimsy) Why only almost won me over? bcos like Sonata, it comes with only 1 driver's airbags. Despite what people may say about the need of airbags for front passenger, for me it is a must. finally someone who also appreciates the new Magentis. yupz, the styling is really very nice. think it was reviewed in a recent issue of Autocars or motoring. projector headlights, european styling and a new 2L engine with spacious interior and climate control. it's quite unbeatable at $67K (i think). only downside is... it's a Kia which will attract unpleasant comments and disapproving looks btw, the local Kia website still shows the old model. the new model can be found if you search on the internet. Nitrate Neutral Newbie April 12, 2006 Share April 12, 2006 (edited) First of all, sorry for the drift but after seeing your post, I was quite excited about how to Magentis would turn out it to be... And guess what, I was disappointed as hell... I dunno man, but I think the design is really REALLY dated. Edited April 12, 2006 by Nitrate
Nitrate Neutral Newbie April 12, 2006 Share April 12, 2006 Very simple lah. Those want comfort, go for sylphy. Those want performance, go for Civic. Those dont wana wait so long, go for Accord JDM/Euro. I actually don't get your "Those want comfort, go for sylphy" point. Hasn't the new civic improved leap & bounds in terms of comfort? Not to mention the usual Honda performance that comes along with it... Best of both worlds in terms of Jap cars I should say.

Nitrate Neutral Newbie April 12, 2006 Share April 12, 2006 (edited) I can definately agree with you on that. My march k12 kenna hit from a taxi behind some years back and all his bumper had was just a little scratch. I think my rear bumper was made of paper-fibre or smtg... Tanjk Neutral Newbie April 13, 2006 Share April 13, 2006 Well, there are still things which are in the Sy but not in the Si. Like memory seats and remote keyless entry? This Sy got chance. You know why? It is just different. In most cases, your CO has a big say in the car buying decision, whether you like it or not. So long as the Sy can appeal to them, you already lost half the battle. These group of pple just want a nice comfy ride with nice trim and interior (not to say that the Si interior not nice, just different). They don't care if the engine pumps out 133BHP or 331 BHP. They also don't care if the car is last to leave the traffic light nor do they care if the car has rear drums and a whimpy CVT. And the 1.5L version is really 'souped' up. And those who wants a small car with a super lux interior and trims will definitely consider this one, despite the price which I think will come down sooner or later. Remember, it's the packaging that counts. Most times, the best selling is usually not the best. That said, my vote goes to the Si, almost bought it but unfortunately PO was not approved :P Regards, JK
