Koolaba 1st Gear April 20, 2006 Share April 20, 2006 The cost of the materials i.e. cables and lugs are cheap. The cables and lugs can be bought in bulk. As long as the materials are conductive, it does not matter where the materials are made. The bulk of the cost goes to labour and getting the installer's hands really dirty. Bluecity Neutral Newbie April 20, 2006 Share April 20, 2006 Bro, Price is reasonable. Last time i also do freelance grounding with 8awg cables, but japan. But now, not buying liao. Usually i ask ppl to buy and i do for them at $10 for 8awg & $25 for below 6awg. Good luck.

Thanks and have a good morning! =) "I am providing 5 points grounding at S$50 for all type of saloon or sport cars. I am using 8 AWG made in USA cables and Japanese cable lux." Hi casey, I believe you are the one sent me a mail at SLC? For wires the lower the digit the thicker the wire so 8AWG is smaller than 4AWG. Depends on what you are grounding for. If for ice use 4AWG will be better. If not 8AWG will do. But the quality of the wire do play a part in reducing resistance. Today just help my colleague to check whether his grounding cables are good. His cables look like those bicycle cable lock, although it's very flexible but there is too much cross section which will increased resistance than decrease it. If you do have a good multimeter, test the cables for it resistance 1st. I am using a cable with 0.5ohm at 50meters for my ride.
Africatwin Neutral Newbie April 20, 2006 Share April 20, 2006 But now, not buying liao. Usually i ask ppl to buy and i do for them at $10 for 8awg & $25 for below 6awg. That is very cheap bro. I also used to do freelance for grounding. But the material itself cost me $50(Gold plated distribution block, high quality terminal lug and 4AWG cables). After that self fabricate to the require length. I did a few test on the cars i fit with the grounding i done, using multimeter(a good one from fluke). All resistance drop by 1 or near 1ohm. Alot of people won't want to spent much $ on such things. The effects of brighter lights, better sound quality from ICE and gear more sensitive is actually true but that depends on want you are paying for. Sorry not implying that the quality of the cables you mention is not good.
Sony 1st Gear April 20, 2006 Share April 20, 2006 Hi, Any recommendation on where to buy the cable and which brand or shop sells the "good" ones?
Bluecity Neutral Newbie April 21, 2006 Share April 21, 2006 That why i prefer the owner to go and buy those barang and i only fix it lor. All those stuff you bought actually not cheap liao. That's what i used to do. But many complain expensive and no different from shops. So, i give up. but your method same as me... using multimeter. Arr... this is what the shop don't use. hee hee. btw, from what i see... 8awg cables is really just enough for grounding work. anything the is above that number.. out of talk. Atlantis_boi Clutched April 21, 2006 Share April 21, 2006 (edited) I've got an Amp & woofer in my ride nw & intend to put grounding. I came across this M Motosports purple color grounding cable. A 13mm, it is much thicker than the rest of grounding cable Does it mean it is a 4awg cable? Bro, Pls advise. Thx alot. Africatwin Neutral Newbie April 21, 2006 Share April 21, 2006 Yes it's a 4AWG wire. But take a look at the wire thru the insulation is the wire being twisted too much?
Africatwin Neutral Newbie April 21, 2006 Share April 21, 2006 Agreed 8 AWG is enough for grounding only. Ya i gave up too. Not much people can understand why need to use better material.
Africatwin Neutral Newbie April 21, 2006 Share April 21, 2006 Go to sim lim tower to shop for it. At basement got a lot of shops selling high current wire. The shop i used to get the material from is Dave audio. Their terminal lug is solid although it's silver plating only but it so hard that it will not break easily even you bend it. At level 2 there is another shop got all kinds of lug but seldom buy from there. Happy shopping there remember to put coupon when park at the public carpark. They come frequently.
