Amazon777 3rd Gear July 6, 2006 Share July 6, 2006 (edited) Thanks. I think the 1.8 or 2.0 would appear to be better value at current pricing.. Hopefully the 1.6 will drop to around mid 60s. It is exactly the same spec as the 1.8 VTI, only difference is it is using a 1.6 I-vtec engine and Electric Power Assist (EPS) power steering, better FC? - same as the 2.0SI. The current 1.8 is on Hydraulic Power Assist. Price wise for the 1.6L really not cheap, the 1.8 VTI is a good catch!! Quantum 5th Gear July 6, 2006 Author Share July 6, 2006 Why is honha so favourite SOHC , 1.8L still is SOHC, even Toyota vios 1.5 oso is DOCH
Xefera 6th Gear July 6, 2006 Share July 6, 2006 (edited) on retrospect, maybe KM is really trying to push up the sales for the 1.8 model since most would consider it better value than the 1.6 Nowadays with the car prices moving south due to the COE, the trend may indicate buyers going for bigger cc models due to affordability. Mzrmazda3 6th Gear July 6, 2006 Share July 6, 2006 For me, i would take the Si cos i prefer DOHC ones It is sad that Honda still retains SOHC for it's 1.6 & 1.8L cos most of the rides in the market are on DOHC
Zoom99 Neutral Newbie July 6, 2006 Share July 6, 2006 KM target huge profit margin! I think Latio Premium would be a value buy. With so many tech features, it costs $56.8k only.
Amazon777 3rd Gear July 6, 2006 Share July 6, 2006 (edited) KM target huge profit margin! You are right, if say OMV is $18.5K and current CAT A COE price of $10201 with selling price of $70500 for the auto, KM would be making around $16.5K ! Felipe 3rd Gear July 6, 2006 Share July 6, 2006 the most expensive 1.6 car in the market! who will pay $70k for a 1.6 with no leather seat/fog lamp/speaker tweeter/alloy rim/HID...crazy. its not. the 147 1.6 is 78k
Liuhao Neutral Newbie July 6, 2006 Share July 6, 2006 i remember last year the KM cleared stock for the last batch of civic ES5 manual at 67.5k, with similar OMV at 18k. that was the lowest price ever for ES5. if ES5 was selling good from KM point of view, the price FD 1.6 manual at $69.5 is only $2k more than ES5 thus should be selling good as well, right? Quantum 5th Gear July 6, 2006 Author Share July 6, 2006 KM make the car market very mess,in future when we see a FD Civic on the road, we can't tell it is 1.6L, 1.8L or 2.0L
Liuhao Neutral Newbie July 6, 2006 Share July 6, 2006 that's why Honda might be the No.3 this year but would hardly be No.1 (toyota) or No.2 (nissan). but seems KM is satisfied to be No.3. hope their margin is good enough to support this strategy in longer term. of course consumer will have to recognize them as premium brand and be willing to pay more than toyota and nissan. time will tell. Normal_aspirated Clutched July 6, 2006 Share July 6, 2006 Absolute madness. Why would pay S$70K for a 1.6l? Kah Motors is digging their own graves. KM always premium priced their hondas.
Normal_aspirated Clutched July 6, 2006 Share July 6, 2006 1.6L ones, roadtax cheaper mah omv lower, so priced lower to capture this market segment, mah.
