Kelpie 2nd Gear January 7, 2009 Share January 7, 2009 Its the financial commitment level that one. Not how much one earns. But in singapore, i'd rather drive a chery QQ than take public transport anytime! To me, I think differently. It is not just about affordability or financial standing though it may plays a part, it is whether you really need one in the 1st place. Didn't we hear forumers commenting $3K income earner driving a BMW 3? I've mentioned friends who are earning >$300K annually, but can't drive a car because they either can't pass driving test or just too afraid to drive a car? In those years, we also didn't have cheap cars like QQ around too. A humble Corolla easily costs you >$100K. Regards, ↡ Advertisement
Fireboyzzz 1st Gear January 7, 2009 Share January 7, 2009 hmms, however, QQs are cheap to buy, but not cheap to maintain. and mine cost an extra 4k for the sports package. so i could have easily gotten myself a picanto or a Kelisa. but i didnt. The kelisa, i didnt like the way it looks, the interior looks outdated. The picanto, space wise, it's more cramped than the QQ, no powered side mirrors and rear windows are operated manually. which really turned me off. i saw my club members first and sec generation QQs and i sure must say, it has improved alot. esp the engine power and the interior. and my QQ is living up to my expectation. so i'm happy with it, as what they said, it's my choice. =) the suv is t11, and i would agree, parts are hard to come by, we only have parts at our authorised agent and they took ages to come. however, we have sourced out malaysia Chery agent and is happy to say that they have parts available at a cheaper price too. =) the gearbox was initially charged to my friend at 10k. so he went to CASE. then complained to the boss of the agent. den after pushing here and there, they reduced the price in this order. 10k--> 7k--->5k--->2k so in the end, it was settled at 2k. it's not an agent, it's a pasar malam! we, the chery club owners are happy with the cars, but extremely upset with the agent
Fireboyzzz 1st Gear January 7, 2009 Share January 7, 2009 and to those ppl who say that driving a QQ is as dangerous as what i dont know, but have u thought about it. it's a QQ man. and this is SINGAPORE. how fast would u want to go. have u come across idiots who drive like a F1 racer in perhaps a 5 star euro ncap cars. and yet they die in an accident. and have u seen that a car knocked a QQ over at a junction resulting in a turtled QQ and the family of 3 got out of it without a scratch? it's just how u drive that matters the most. not how the car drives... just me opinion

Regards, Those are extreme cases bro...for me, i'm too used with the convenience of driving over public transport. In fact, for me, any basic car that is reliable is good enough. I belong to the group who would go for a picanto/kelisa/china cars as I do not believe in spending too much for a car.

Razgriz Clutched January 7, 2009 Share January 7, 2009 agree.. to me.. 4 wheels ... got roof over head is nice.. but after owning a eurovan, i realise parts cost is 1 of the impt. factor be looking .. cos long run .. the car is cheaper than the parts... so to me.. parts price & availablitiy will be the key to my choice of car, thats y i looking @ MY cars.. cos more affordable and parts easily available across the bridge... but whatever it is.. careful while driving folks... AC also very very cold for QQ.. yeah the AC is very cold even at level 1. the side mirrors are very big and because of the car's height, i feel that other vehicles' headlights are very glaring in the night. does your QQ's brakes feel like stepping on a hard stone? or is it only my friend's car? normal slowing down is alright, what about those jam brake incidents on the expressway? i am afraid the brakes can't stop the car in time.
