Bus Lane Question

I guess figures are never easy to remember when one is on the move concentrating on driving. My own experience is that I'm about to go on the bus lane, then start thinking....er....is it 4 pm or 4:30 pm?

Its also partly a domino effect, I think. Like when I know that its safe to get into the bus lane, but then see everyone avoiding it....gives me second thoughts (eg. maybe there's something I didn't know).

In the end, maybe thats why so many people just choose to play safe and avoid bus lanes altogether.

Its no excuse not to remember the rules....but in reality, we're all human.

Hmmmm...I don't think the photographers will care about this. Otherwise, it might be open to abuse in that people will just conveniently travel on bus lanes with the right-turn signal on.

Best not to take the risk.

hey bro,

I just got my fine for the same reason too....

Can advise me on how to appeal to TP?

Can PM me too...

Thanks

Best bet is to appeal based on safety as no one can compromise that issue.

It is not possible to dash across 2 lanes during heavy traffic peak hours without causing any disruption and obstruction or hurt if unlucky.

It is not just the people in you car but also the ones in the other car as well.

My appeal was based on safety furthermore as I stay in that area.

The only way out to work is through that road only, thus making my case stronger.

Tell us what happen and we can think if you have a case for appeal.

Don't be afraid to make mistakes just be honest about it.

i am puzzled also why other drivers steer clear of bus lanes during non bus lane timing when the other lanes are slow moving and the bus lanes are empty with no buses/slow moving/stationary vehicles in sight far ahead. My guess is most are just plain lazy to change lanes cos u r bound to encounter any of the 3 after cruising happily for sometime in that lane. Then u have to switch back to the middle lane again, which sometimes may be hard if the middle lane become jammed...

The answer is obvious. [scholar]

There r so many different timings for this & that, that most motorists cannot remember them all. [dizzy]

So to play safe, they just stay away. Best way to avoid being summoned. [rolleyes]

Best is follow the rest if can't remember the timing correctly. If majority stays away then monkey see monkey do, sure won't go wrong one. [laugh][laugh]

If I were you caught in the same situation during bus operation hours, I'll turn into the bus lane but wait there before entering into the continuous yellow line and filter to the center lane once the traffic is cleared.

In this way, it's better than just staying put in the side road causing a long queue behind. [laugh][laugh]

But if you did that and a bus came from behind, you would then be obstructing the bus. Since bus lanes are implemented to have a clear path for buses, won't they find fault with you for that?

in additon to the bus lane. I think that there is a red and yellow bus lane that is supposed to be in operation from 0730 to 1800hrs whole day except sat and sunday. this lane are usually in the city area. anyone can verify this?? I also not very sure abt it.

To 1800hrs only? The normal yellow bus lane is up to 7pm.

I'm also not sure abt the red color bus lane thingy. So confusing [hur]

Actually, regulations are good, obviously to keep things orderly and predictable. However, over-regulation and over-robotic enforcement sometimes can cause confusion.

I thought the highway code are supposed to be pretty much international. But our highway code is like electronics. What you learned a few years back may not be valid today anymore. Red-coloured bus lanes lah, use fog lights can go to jail lah, no more demerit points for bus lanes lah, change of penalties for offences lah, this lah, that lah... When I passed my driving test, there were no such things as bent arrows (lane merging), zigzag lines, red bus lanes, blah blah. I only knew about all these because I was lucky enough to catch it on the news.

From this thread alone (and other threads too), we can see how confused some of us are. Our information all seems to be hearsay or read it in the newspaper somewhere sometime.

So one thing I've always been wondering about. Is there easy-to-find SINGLE source where we can get all information on traffic act, highway code, etc etc? I've searched the Traffic Police, OneMotoring and LTA websites and couldn't seem to find any. Even if the only way is to buy a highway code book, how do we know when to buy the next udpated copy?

Of course must check clear first before turning into the bus lane. [:p][laugh]

From my observation, most bus drivers are more patient than other drivers. [thumbsup]

What time did this happen?

Just for your info, you are not suppose to be in the bus lane from 7.30am to 9.30am and 4.30pm to 7.00pm from Mondays to Fridays. And at 7.30am to 9.30am and 11.30am to 2.00pm on Saturdays. Apart from this hours, its ok to use the bus lane.

I noticed Bus Lane with single yellow line along serangoon Road. Does it mean that I can park from 7 PM to 7 AM along that line. But on friday Bus lane hours is upto 8 PM right? Any idea what time can I park? Which one to follow??
