Oh great! [wave] So which Lancer? CS3?

So rear seats space is slightly smaller.. what about the front seats?

With ur same driving habit.. is there a great difference on the FC between the two cars?

And by the way who is Ah Veo? SE? Is he good?

Im thinking of buying a 3-4 year old Mazda 3 SP, do you think 60k for a low mileage car (30-40k) is expensive?

Bros, i cant seem to find a Mazda 6 thread in MCF.

i was thinking of going out to service my car instead of the usual authorised dealer servicing for my 2006 Mazda 6 SP.

any idea where i can get the spark plugs? any model ?

and maybe some spareparts for the normal wear and tear replacement?

Hi Guys...I am new to this Forum...and would like to know more about Mz3:

i'm planning to buy a used Mz3 in next month and looking for the SP or SP Luxary...

Based on my search i have questions:

1. Found 2007 regular cars costing around 45-47K which already clocked 50-75K mileage....Is this worth price to buy?

2. Buying from delaer or direct owner...which is better option?

3. I am a foreigner and have valid licence in my home country and new driver in Singapore...how much will be insurance cost per annum?

4. I am comfortable with FC if between 12-14 kmpl...will Mz3 gives me that?

5. Noticed some of the used cars have rims from 15-17''...which rims suits better for Mz3? Does this effect lot in FC?

6. What is the default audio system available in Mz3? I am looking with Amplifier and Sub...where should i go to get at lower price and reliable work?

7. Most of the Mz3 have the Black leather seats...if i want to chnage it to other colurs...how much it will cost me?

8. What are main things to check ask while buying the used car?

I will be very thankful...if someone answers my questions and help in choosing the right one.

4. doubt so. i was driving the old mazda2 the most I go was 11-12km/L. Mazda3 is much heavier than mazda2

5. I read that rims doesnt affect FC much. unless you want to count to 3 decimal places

remember, mazda is not a car if u worry too much about fc. also the general concensus is that 1.6L engine is not enough for mazda3sp

as for modifing your car, look for JDM. They specialise in Mazdas

Based on my search i have questions:

1. Found 2007 regular cars costing around 45-47K which already clocked 50-75K mileage....Is this worth price to buy?

ans: with the high coe currently, such prices are norms. just ensure they are working properly.

2. Buying from delaer or direct owner...which is better option?

ans: there will be risk buying frm dealer as they just push u to buy their cars. for direct owners, u got to ensure someone does the paperwork properly.

3. I am a foreigner and have valid licence in my home country and new driver in Singapore...how much will be insurance cost per annum?

ans: call and get quotes from axa, ntuc, aviva etc

4. I am comfortable with FC if between 12-14 kmpl...will Mz3 gives me that?

my mz3 gives me 11.5 to 12. 60 highway. 40 city.

5. Noticed some of the used cars have rims from 15-17''...which rims suits better for Mz3? Does this effect lot in FC?

ans: im using 17 rims, doesnt makes a difference bewteen 16 and 17. maybe its just me.

6. What is the default audio system available in Mz3? I am looking with Amplifier and Sub...where should i go to get at lower price and reliable work?

ans:not into sound so cant advise u.

7. Most of the Mz3 have the Black leather seats...if i want to chnage it to other colurs...how much it will cost me?

ans: read from some threads here and know they roughly cost 700 plus onwards for leather wrapping.

8. What are main things to check ask while buying the used car?

ans: just send to sta for a piece of mind, although sometimes its not really accurate.

I will be very thankful...if someone answers my questions and help in choosing the right one.

1. Found 2007 regular cars costing around 45-47K which already clocked 50-75K mileage....Is this worth price to buy?

Answer-with current COE prices, its the car chosing you and not the other way around.

2. Buying from delaer or direct owner...which is better option?

Answer-I bought my sp3 from a direct owner. The paper work was a bitch but I managed to know the owner better and saved some fees too. I opine some dealers are more interested in their cash registers as opposed to yr well-being. Before u sign on the dotted line, they promise you the sky. After you sign and something goes awry, its yr problem to solve.

3. I am a foreigner and have valid licence in my home country and new driver in Singapore...how much will be insurance cost per annum?

Answer-Mine is from DirectAsia. My sp3 is pure stock, no mod at all.

4. I am comfortable with FC if between 12-14 kmpl...will Mz3 gives me that?

Answer-Yes. mz3 will give you the FC of that range. Mine ranges between 11.5 & 13.2. I drive to work from tampines via PIE, KPE & ECP to Keppel from mon to fri. On weekends, its from Tampines via PIE, BKE & KJE to Choa Chu Kang then back. Mostly expressway I suppose.

5. Noticed some of the used cars have rims from 15-17''...which rims suits better for Mz3? Does this effect lot in FC?

Answer-No knowledge on this area.

6. What is the default audio system available in Mz3? I am looking with Amplifier and Sub...where should i go to get at lower price and reliable work?

Answer-I guess you can if u r feeling rich. But you will have to remove the console which IMHO stock is pretty as it is.

7. Most of the Mz3 have the Black leather seats...if i want to chnage it to other colurs...how much it will cost me?

Answer-No idea cos black is the best.

8. What are main things to check ask while buying the used car?

Answer-Send for STA report. Any major accidents before in particular any damage to the engine. Check for welding in boot as it would normally would hv tell tale signs if it had been repaired before. Check for loose engine mounting. Engage neutral gear and let engine idle, check for vibes. Then rev to abt 3k, check for vibes. THere are also plenty more checks but all the tests were done by a friend who is a car mechanic.

Good luck in yr search.

Hi guys,

I just got a 2010 mazda 3. Find that the fuel efficiency is low. Maybe 9km/L.

You might know of any installations that can help improve the fuel efficiency?

Thanks!

can't be helped.

It's a known fact this car has pretty poor FC. On paper, it's already abt 11km/l iirc. So, in practical world, 9km/l is acceptable.

I assume thats the 1.6? 9/L is in the "real world" range, nothing wrong. If u get 10/Litre in Sin's 50/50 driving, its good already.

Pls do not install any "magic stone" devices. Even if it worked, the gains are so minuscule that it would take 10s of thousands of mileage before u break even. Enjoy Maz's good handling instead.

Installing any K & N filter could make it worse. Keeping it stock is best.

If u dont mine outlooks, perhaps use narrower tyres ......"downgrade" to 195/60-16 or 195/55-16. Less drag, may have slight improvement in FC & pick up.

Ensure tyres properly inflated at the recommended max pressure. Usually its 230kpa when tyre is cold. Since most of us drive a distance b4 pumping, i pump 240 front, 230 rear. Esp so since I only drive locally. If u go Boleh, pump 220 instead.

Look at the owners manual & go for the thinnest recommended eo. Eg 5w 30? If u do use thin oils (5/20 or 5/30), pls use branded oils.

Use fully synthetic oil. Thinner oils, narrower tyres will provide less drag.

Do ensure u check the ATF. Should be pink color.

I was going to reply to the post. But, you beat me to it. lol.

FC of 9 sounds about right. 11 plus not bad liao. The pre-fl Mazda 3 was never know for FC. Plus sg traffic is "start stop" from pt A to B, surely the engine has to crank out more ponies and sweat harder to get car moving from stop.

"Magic stones"? lol. That's a funny way to put it. No best mod. But, if FC is a concern, buy a Jazz or Fit. :D
