Sony 1st Gear November 17, 2006 Share November 17, 2006 k lor.. since the car is big enough... You, me, saaber and Ah Veo.. seems like there's still enough room.. Actually it would be safer to fill up the car, so that when we corner, people would not move from left seat to right seat ermmmm....dun corner too much at high spd hor....too many suv cases... its a suv not ebo or scobby... That's why you need to fill it up with enough weight...

Knighthunter 4th Gear November 17, 2006 Share November 17, 2006 (edited) I never tried my friend's Mazda 3 activematic, but in my Mazda 6 it got almost less intervention from the car or safety feature. It won't shift automatically even pushed to redline, I even one get rev cut out ard 7k plus due to wrong shifting lucky nothing happen to the car. The only intervention is when slowing down to almost dead stop the gearbox will downshift automatically to 1st gear or 2nd gear. Well I am quite happy with this activematic. At least not like "H" brand even with paddle shift in Manual mode 1st gear to 3rd gear will shift automatically when touching redline...phui... Of course I still prefer conti semi-manual feel, like my collegue's A4 (non-DSG, I never tried DSG car yet). I will join you to get Mazda 6 MPS if I am getting Toto first prize..... Law_ong Neutral Newbie November 17, 2006 Author Share November 17, 2006 for mz3, redline will not cut off too...wat i meant is i cant upshift or downshift at any point/spd that i like... the shift is monitored by ecu depending on the car spd...you try to upshift the car from 2 to 3 with spd less than 30km and see if can, 3 to 4 with spd less than 35km...and downshift from 4 to 3 to 2 at 60km... it cannot be done and i confirm it by reading the manual... i sat on my frz peugeot and he demo his to me..... the setback is if you are not alert enuf, the high rpm will send the car wheels go spinning... Nav14 6th Gear November 17, 2006 Share November 17, 2006 This is my first time writing a car review so pardon me on the bits and pieces of information available.. I have the honour yesterday to be the first customer to test drive the new Mz CX-7, courtesy of our beloved ah veo and its the first time i drive a suv. The first glance on the exterior is that the car is big and tall, equivalent to a Rav4. Despite the ride's built is higher and wider, it moves and behave very much like a normal sedan...the corner is good, not much body roll if you dun push it too hard like u would do to a rex..its a SUV for god sake.. The turbo kicks-in at a comfortable rpm @ abt 3500 (to me) compared to the one i tried on my cousin's legacy GT that kicks-in at 4200rpm....there is sufficient ponies to pull the 1.7 ton body under normal acceleration.. braking is good as well, given its heavy body the inertia for stopping is strong too...dunnoe if its the plastic on the chair..i actually was slipping forward when i step abit hard on the brake. Ride is firm but comfort as most of the rough patches are smoothen out by the suspension. The ride comes with sunroof, driver electric seats etc and, yes, bose sound system for those that like better sound yet not interested in sinking $$ for better aftermarket system... The interesting part that i like about from the car is the new electric-hyraulic combined steering system, it gives u the beefy assuring steering response needed at high speed and yet able to give u the lightness needed to do turning at tight corner at low spd (the rims are 18", no joke on the wt) Overall verdict is its a nice ride and give u the extra oomph needed as and when with high commanding view...would be a favourite for mummies or ladies my feel..(no flame me ) The ve point is tat the plastic used on the dash board looks and feel abit low class for the price paid but the quality is there... And again, tks to ah veo for the test ride...i will buy a mps from you when i strike big sweep first prize... I test drove the CX-7 on 12 Nov. There is a lag of a sec or so before the it picks up speed when accelerator is pressed hard. At normal speeds it feels very ordinary and a bit heavy. Engine noise is quite high under hard acceleration. Somehow I did not find the turbo kick in very impressive. A V6 engine would have been much better. Not a bad car for the price on the whole with all the features. Contrary to some of the views here , the interior especially the console area is much nicer and more classy/expensive looking than the RAV 4 and the new CRV. The CX - 7 is defintely one of the best looking SUVs today. Compared to the Santa Fe, it is definitely faster and sexier. However the Santa Fe is easier to drive with less blind spots and its V6 engine is much smoother and quieter than the CX7. The new CRV is a big dissapointment. The interior is not much changed and the quality is definetely not comparable to the Cx-7. Personally I find it ugly. The CX-7 is a much better deal than the new CRV ,RAV4 and Outlander. Law_ong Neutral Newbie November 17, 2006 Author Share November 17, 2006 kns..must ah veo.... yup tat y i said it drive like a normal sedan mah... to each his own, i feel the engine not raw enuf as its a TC engine...u noe must have the TC type of sound mah.. V6 might make the car moves off much slower....1.7 ton is no joke..unless they upz the capacity and couple it with V6
Nazaki Clutched November 17, 2006 Share November 17, 2006 Nice review by LawOng & Nav14.. :) Any idea how's the FC like? Since its quite heavy and TC-ed.. It shldn't be anywhere good right?
Law_ong Neutral Newbie November 17, 2006 Author Share November 17, 2006 thanks...was told the fc is about 9km/l, provided there no jams...
Jaydos Neutral Newbie November 17, 2006 Share November 17, 2006 That's very low ! If got traffic jam, it will like 7-8 km/l ! So expensive and still high FC? Better not to buy now and wait until inevitable price drop in next 1 year.

Sandbox Neutral Newbie November 17, 2006 Share November 17, 2006 Don't fret Law_ong, i test drove the cx-7 at the initial soft launch. So ah veo is still truthful when he told you that you are the first after the launch to public... Must say that the price is really not much for such specs... however, have monitored mazda's pricing and they tend to drop prices after 6 months or so. Test driven the car (courtesy of Ah Veo) at the soft launch and really liked it. So now just hoping that the trend will continue and get the car in about 6 months or so... Hopefully can touch the early 90 range... when u test driven it? kns told me i the first public to test drive on 15nov...
Jaydos Neutral Newbie November 17, 2006 Share November 17, 2006 10-11 would be good for SUV. Anyway my point is to buy when prices of CX-7 become lower as there are also similar SUVs out there at lower prices and slightly better FC. ↡ Advertisement
