Manage to get quotation for the above 2 tires.

The price is only $1 difference between the 2. Both from reputable tyre shop.

Since both enjoy rave review from users, find it hard to make decision.

Quiet, Comfort, Above avg dry/wet grip are my expectation from the tires.

Help me choose...thumbsup.gif

Just replaced fairly new GR80 with Michelin Preceda 2. Preceda quieter by some margin, better steering feel and ride. No experience with hankooks yet.

Am on the V8rs now, previously on dunlop sportmax and pilot preceda. Have not been on the GR80 yet, but hope this still provide some guide.

Comparatively, the V8rs is the quietest, and is high on comfort (les bumpy through less than perfect roads).

The dunlops are the noisest, but has the best grip and control imo. because of the harder side walls, the car has less body roll compared to the hankook when going thru a corner. (the stiffer side walls also contribute to a more bumpy ride...)

In terms of wet grip, the V8 holds its own, but the dunlops are still better.

The precedas are probably somewhere in the middle for me, good trusty grip (not as fast thru the corners compared to the dunlops though), only began to sound noisy near my second year of use.

I changed out of the dunlops to the V8 because i couldn't take the noise level any more... so decide to compromise a bit, don't drive that fast lah...

cheers,

I second to slidingturtle's quote

"The dunlops are the noisest, but has the best grip and control imo. because of the harder side walls, the car has less body roll compared to the hankook when going thru a corner. (the stiffer side walls also contribute to a more bumpy ride...) "

Try the Michelin's MXV8 or XM1 energy tires as well. I've been on the MXV8 and so far they are much quieter than the GR80. The grip on wet & round the corners is better that the GR80s IMHO. In my case I've not been on the V8 as yet.

Same here, I actually have three in mind. Other then the two you've mentioned, the other one is Michelin XM1, different is S$10/=. I'm on OEM XH1 now, feel good on wet and dry.

Wonder what's the threadwear for GR80 and V8.[hur] Micheline one is 240.

Likely I will go for V8RS... ....again.sly.gif

Having clocked >36k km on V8RS, I feel performance wise didn't deteriorate noticeably. Perhaps I drive cautiously, but going over bend such as the one from Clementi Ave 6 to PIE (toward city) or the one from CTE to PIE (toward Jurong) I can go faster to overtake other vehicle and tyre still hold (no screeching sound). drivingcar.gif

Noise wise does deteriorate slightly, but still within acceptable level. For the initial 25k km or so, it can compete with the 'famous' Aspec dB in terms of quietness.

If most of your driving is in Singapore, this tyre is more than sufficient. thumbsup.gif

Actually before I got my current set of V8RS, I was also considering GR80....Comfort and quietness is my main priority.... Unfortunately GR80 does not comes in lower profile, such as 195/50 R15, which is my tyre size....

Currently planning to change to either the V8 or GR80.

Anyone with experience with both V8 and GR80 compare them on the wet?

Both are in the same price range. Want to know why V8 commend that kind of price.
