Neutral Newbie

I went for the Outlander. The new generation is much sweeter than the previous. Very nice and bold looks and fully equipped with paddle shifters, Rockford Fosgate etc etc..

Let me give a break down of these 2 cars

Rav4 from BM

-made in thailand

-engine made in china

-4 Wd = fuel consumption higher

No need to quarrel regarding this as my future sis-in-law is in BM

Wow...engine made in china? I didn't know that..I thought they say everything is made in Japan and assembled in Thailand only? [:p]

Was in the same position last year. Went for PI RAV4 at the end for its superb FC (12-13km/l) and price.

If these 2 factors are of no concern to u then please pick the new CRV (drove the old model previously) for its technology and finishing.

RAV4 has more blind spots than the old CRV so i assumed the new CRV is better in this area.

I don't know how the Rav4 and new CR-V compares in blind spots but the CR-V does have also. The rear view mirror only see the rear window and do not show more of the rear pillar side like some cars. But the mirror is big for SUV so can slowly adjust mirror to best position to minimise blind spot.

Anyway it's a habit and I'm used to turning my head most of the time than depend on just the side mirrors. More safety that way. [:)]

Let's see... 7-seater SUV...

1) Hyundai Santa Fe

2) Audi Q7

3) Mercedes GL-class

4) BMW X5

5) Honda Crossroad

6) Chevrolet Captiva

7) Mitsubishi Outlander

8) Toyota Fortuner

9) Toyota Prado

10) Volvo XC90

11) Jeep Commander

That's all I can think of for now. Anyone care to add on?

Thanks for the list. After looking at it, think options 2,3,4,10,11 are out of my budget. The rest still can consider. However, I do notice that SUV with 7 seats do come in large capacity engine. [dizzy]

Good to find another Outlander owner.

Been driving for a year now.

How's ur FC? Mine is abt 8-8.5 km/L

Only downside is that not a hold lot of MOD can be done.

My FC is also about the same as yours, but i also heard that after 10K servicing switching to synthetic oil will improve the FC? If maintain at 90km/h on highway with RPM less than 2K, the FC is pretty good at 10km/L

MOD wise, nothing much except u can upgrade to 20" rims, change the exhaust. Engine bay is VERY spacious, so... [sly]

I feel that the large engine capacity is necessary, given the weight, height and size of such beasts. However, you can consider the honda crossroad which is only 1.8 and is about 80k+. Only problems are that it's only available from a pi and its looks might not appeal to all.
