Gdilancer Neutral Newbie March 13, 2007 Share March 13, 2007 Bro, You have alrdy analysed both cars' pros and cons le. Case 1: Honda Fit. Will hit your $650 per mth quota installment. Hence would mean not much cash avaliable to mod the car(if you still wish to that is). So you got to ask yourself, will you be able to enjoy driving a stock FIT for 5-6 years? If yes, then go for FIT. Case 2: Mit Lancer. Will have spare cash to mod performace and bodykit. So you got to ask yourself, are you willing to take the trouble to do all those modifications? Do take the risk of getting caught into consideration if you are planning some illegal mod to the car. Just some points for you to ponder.. ↡ Advertisement
Gdilancer Neutral Newbie March 13, 2007 Share March 13, 2007 Hmm, not so sure where he got his figures from. But from sgcarmart, the car price range ~ $52K - $60K. thats the pro and con with PI cars. No fix numbers.
Jl1500k Clutched March 13, 2007 Share March 13, 2007 Not only look into monthly installment of $650 per month maybe insurance and road tax also take into consideration. How about Jazz or Latio also a good FC car and about $50K
Route88 2nd Gear March 13, 2007 Share March 13, 2007 i have been considering both models for a long time. since is my 1st car, i dun wish to make any rash decision as buying a car now a long term choice, not say wanna change then change if u dun like it. i need some advices, i am very new to cars, i have been riding bike for the last 9 years, now its time to get a car. Hmm...ride bike for 9 years,i think Honda engine is nothing new right? Honda has been building good engine for bikes, for cars....you decide
Route88 2nd Gear March 13, 2007 Share March 13, 2007 HONDA FIT 1.5 Vtec MT:- Pros - supermini with some performance (8-9 sec 0-100km/hr) dun need on mod much on performance fuel consumpstion due to its light weight. more durable than lancer. many exterior and interior mods. Cons - Very Expensive, around 59K - 62K for a small car. spare parts are expensive also. PI car, after sales service might differ. Mitsubitshi Lancer 1.6 MT:- Pros - more affordable (basic model at 45K - 47K) interior seems nicer. many interior and exterior mods. AD car, aftermarket service and spare parts more easily availble. Cons - performance will be a let down (still can mods till as fast as Fit but spend $$$ and risk of being caught) not as durable as HONDA. Other than Fit 1.5,there's other choice like Airwave and City...their engine is almost identical No commence about Lancer, its engine is old. Unless mivec, then i can talk
Yeshe Turbocharged March 13, 2007 Share March 13, 2007 seriously, i suppose you just got your class 3 driving license or you possess little car driving experience. i would suggest you get a 2nd hand car instead since you mentioned that you are going to drive for awhile n get your dream car. 1) thing is the depreciation is not too steep so that u focus you $$ on your dream car instead. 2) a 2nd hand car if kana knock or scatches, you not heart pain and since you are new driver, it is bound to happen. 3) now the car price going up, no point getting a new car unless u did the hunting 1 month back. just for your info, my first 'car' was a panel van, drive like nobody biz n so carefree before not worried about knocks or scatches negotiating carpack etc. 2nd car was COE proton saga, also drive with ease. just 2 yrs ago got my new lancer, definitely more confident in handling and recently my outlander
Jerrygsr Neutral Newbie March 14, 2007 Author Share March 14, 2007 whether wanna change car in the next 5-6 years might not even happen. so at least i wanna buy a car which i dun might drivin till i scrape it. i got ever though of buying 2nd hand car, but come to think of it, still not worth it. cheaper by only a few thousands but more interests. of cos by limit myself to $650 per month, doesnt mean that i dun have spare cash for mods and others. but why u might ask, why not i buy my dream car now. reasons like being a new driver, its better to get use to the driving 1st, then the fact that insurance with 0% NCD will be a bomb. i do believe that if buying sometin, its better be sometin u like or u enjoy and no regrets about. especially when it comes to car. its a cost of ur life or enjoyment of ur life will depends on the choice u make. agreed? Jazz 2nd Gear March 14, 2007 Share March 14, 2007 Your 2 choice really in different class, if I am to choose, Lancer for me. Why ? First is much cheaper than Fit, can definitely cover your FC as compare to FIT, secondly, buy from AD is much secure than getting from PI.
Yeshe Turbocharged March 15, 2007 Share March 15, 2007 not all 2nd hand car is cheaper by afew thousands and it depends on how old the 2nd hand car is. if you are refering to 2-4yrs car, then the cost is not much cheaper because of the higher COE 2-4 yrs ago. however, you look at COE cars, they often go very much lower at around 15k for 4-5yrs left to drive; that price difference will be at least 30k. advantage of a COE car is that you do not worry about knocks n scatches, 3rd party fire n theft insurance is also much cheaper and you can build up your NCD without paying higher comprehensive insurance to start. however, you will have to take a risk in terms of maintenance. my me, its either i buy the car that is very cheap and cost effective that serve the same purpose for the time being OR i get the car that i WANT. Sgnick 1st Gear March 15, 2007 Share March 15, 2007 (edited) HONDA FIT 1.5 Vtec MT:- Pros - supermini with some performance (8-9 sec 0-100km/hr) dun need on mod much on performance fuel consumpstion due to its light weight. more durable than lancer. many exterior and interior mods. Cons - Very Expensive, around 59K - 62K for a small car. spare parts are expensive also. PI car, after sales service might differ. Seems to me like u prefer Fit but is concern about it's price? Can ask if the Fit is comfortably within your budget? If money no concern, get the one u like best. If $ is an issue, get the one u can afford comfortably, else it will put a strain on u financially. Hiphiphoray 6th Gear March 15, 2007 Share March 15, 2007 I got my Lancer bcos its the cheapest Jap-built Sedan with a decent boot in Spore. Although performance wise not so good. But hey....Spore traffic jams everywhere....how fast u want to go?????? All the V-tec, C-tec, XYZ-tec also cant help much. 15k more is too much a price to pay for a car!!!!!. Just endure it until its time to get yr dream car lor.
