As usual.... The law is one step behind. 

 

Now I am seeing PHVs driving unsteadily, hesitatingly on the road, over take them and I will see them looking and touching their mounted mobile phone. Their attention is not on the road at all. Little wonder we are seeing more accidents video from these group.

On 1 February 2015, the amendment to Section 65B of the Road Traffic Act (RTA) was implemented.

To ensure that only drivers who blatantly disregard the safety of other road users by using their MCD while driving, 3 clear conditions were stipulated. For the offence of using MCD while driving to stand, ALL the following 3 conditions must be fulfilled:

(a) the vehicle is in motion; and 

(b) the driver is holding on to any MCD with one hand; and 

© the driver using any function of the MCD 

[© includes making phone calls, paging for someone, receiving a call by pressing the keypad, surfing the Internet, playing games, sending of SMS.] 

Using a MCD while the vehicle is stationery is not an offence. However, it is not advisable to do so as the driver should remain attentive to his/her surroundings at all times

i thought this was posted years ago, the Police logo has changed, and from the photo clarity of the background likely the car is stationary.

dun always take internet / social media hoax face value LOL the camera is meant to catch illegal activities and use to solve crime if a report crime take place there!!

 

ask any police officer or TP they will laugh  [laugh]  no wonder SG government so serious need to have a fake news law implement so fast  [:p]
