Sat in one two days ago overseas. Benz build is back with a vengence! Now equal to Lexus and better than some other Germans. Also rode in new S klasse and C did not feel like a poor relation, quality wise.

 

you're rite, Merc quality is back, the E,S and SL is even better than the GS, LS and SC, toping the initial quality study of JD Power.

320i no longer 120K. they cleared the 120k stock already. New stock with some extra features is now going for 135k+-.

 

The new c-class will cost more.

no, still using the same engine with 150BHP. 170BHP version should be available soon though.

Pretty much agree with your ranking but I'd prefer the IS250 over the C.

 

BTW, the model I saw, C200, was 36k euros. I'm not sure if it's the elegance or avantgarde. Quite obscene to think how much we're paying for it and other cars alike.

i only have 2 gripes for the IS250... the tail lamps and the front grille. otherwise its a damn handsome car.

Actually I'm not too familiar with Mercs. However, I find their designs not very ground breaking and exciting. I'd say the new BMW look very bold and daring. Having said that, the only model within Merc that I think is a breakthrough is the CLS (4 door). I use to hate that design but it grew on me. Now it stands out amongst other cars on the road and I love it.

oohhh... i love the CLS.

 

BMW bold and daring? some of the models look like they're designed with their eyes closed. some were too daring in fact. and their design for the the interior really took a downturn. used to be so driver orientated.

 

i only have a few faves. the 6 series and the 3 series coupe. others are

Try sitting in the new Camry and you will see certain parts in it that look and feel so much like the Lexus.

Every new Merc is a breakthrough in design and engineering.

This W204 packs a lot of innovation in design and I can bet we will see a few cars on the road next year that has a certain look of this Merc.

The rear light has vents that draws air from below the car to discharge it out from the side of the rear light housing, thereby spoiling lift at high speed, doing away the usual rear lip.

 

The brakes blink during an emregency braking....and the list goes on.

Pretty flattering vid from 5th gear. However, around 4 out of 5 mins worth were talking about the aesthetics rather than the drive, engine, handling, etc. I have nothing against the C but I'm rather surprised with all the hype created.

ermm.... quite true. more spacious even... but IS250 got the creamy V6

 

but then again, you can enjoy the V6 power on a Mark X too at a way cheaper price... interior not bad also. especially the shift lever.

My ride is an IS250. Its over a year old now and flawless. But recently I sat in the new C class overseas. Yes, you will need to go to C280 for a creamy V6 but the rest of the build quality is finally up to Lexus levels. If the price were the same it would be a hard choice! But I agree the IS250 refinement is hard to beat for the price.

I really think Lexus is an excellent marque. People who snub Lexus as 'still a jap car' is living in denial. I love every aspect of the IS250 but, alas, it's not for me now. I just bought a B170 for the wife. Perhaps when you're bored with your IS250 you can give me a shout!!
