Hatch_lover Neutral Newbie June 14, 2007 Share June 14, 2007 `Ride comfort, level of equipment and build quality should be better than the 3. but the handling of the 3 will be a hard act to follow, not to even mention about beating it. but that's not the focus of merc. ' Exactly! Main stream Merc is generally about overall superiority for all the occupants while BMW is more driver focused. The new C-Class will close the gap in terms of driving dynamics with the agility control thus rewarding the driver BUT still ensuring that the other occupants are pampered. At the end of the day, it depends on what the buyer is looking for.
Relagsingh 4th Gear June 14, 2007 Share June 14, 2007 For me, junior execs should look stylish and comfortable. the 159 and this new c-class fit my bill perfectly.
Odyssey02 Clutched June 14, 2007 Share June 14, 2007 However the 159 does not have the brand image that the three pointed star has.
Sporadic 1st Gear June 14, 2007 Share June 14, 2007 Brand image, as in the old man/chinese businessman/noveau riche/tua tow kay's car?
Relagsingh 4th Gear June 14, 2007 Share June 14, 2007 yeah... but it's ok. the 159 is on the top of my list. followed by the C-class and IS250.
Odyssey02 Clutched June 14, 2007 Share June 14, 2007 Lets say would your client be more impressed by a Mercedes or a Alfa Romeo or Citroen C6?
Sporadic 1st Gear June 14, 2007 Share June 14, 2007 (edited) Neither... I'm just a working class guy with no clients to talk of! Edited June 14, 2007 by Sporadic
Relagsingh 4th Gear June 14, 2007 Share June 14, 2007 it depends really.... some may go like: "duhz... not another merc/bmw?..." or maybe: "hmm... he should be doing well.." for a 159 or any alfa per se: "hey... a 159, some acquired taste eh?" if its the C6: "whoa! what the hell is this?" i dun drive to impress others. i wana be impressed by my drive, all the time. my car, my choice. Carmaniac Neutral Newbie June 14, 2007 Share June 14, 2007 looks a lot of nicer and muscular than the previous version.. but I still prefer bmw
Hein Neutral Newbie June 14, 2007 Share June 14, 2007 The interior looks good.. Wonder how much will they sell(and their price) considering the 320i is selling like hot cakes now...
Hatch_lover Neutral Newbie June 14, 2007 Share June 14, 2007 The 320i direct competitor is the C180, not C200. C200 more natural competitor is the 323i. C200 is going for $156,888 with free upgrade to avantgarde worth $5k.
Relagsingh 4th Gear June 14, 2007 Share June 14, 2007 hmmm.... pretty good price. even though the 5k avantgarde upgrade may be a gimmick. if you haggle a bit, it'll be worth it.

Pringles Neutral Newbie June 15, 2007 Share June 15, 2007 Just saw the new C zip pass me in Paris a few hrs back. No doubt it catches attention. I've also noticed a lot of IS250 recently in a city not known to have many non-conti cars.
