Sportster Neutral Newbie June 23, 2007 Share June 23, 2007 (edited) has anyone bought it? any reviews? Bought my Nokia 6110 last weekend. Tested the GPS function and observed the following:- After turn on navigation, establish signal with the Satellite sometime take a long while. After the Satellite signal is received, it works like a Gem. There is built-in voice guided feature, can choose male/female voice etc. After the route is calculated, if one deviate from the "best" route, it will re-calculate route immediately, did not feel a lot of delay. When you are on the wrong direction, it will prompt you to make a roundabout at the earliest possible time. Still trying to figure out how to update the map if there is new revision, coz the map looks pretty plain even in 3D mode. The address database seems not as comprehensive as compare to those from mapking. I would grade this Nokia 6110 Navigation an 7/10 for this phone with GPS feature. Osiris 1st Gear June 24, 2007 Share June 24, 2007 just got it. In summary, GPS function (will kill someone) Fault Found: CTE towards SLE. Whampoa flyover ask me to veer right (which will lead me to a center divider) to a non existing road (shown on map) Other fault: Navigating to a hdb block number brings you to a nearest street only and may not be accurate. Any good? CTE tunnels: lost signal obviously. Required in about 10 sec after coming out of the tunnel will do a more proper review when got time 6110 Package from M1 Phone (w/512MB microSD) - Free Car Charger - Free Car Cradle (Nokia Universal Holder CR-39 & HH-12) - Free SGP, MY Map - Free Canon MP160

Robin 4th Gear June 25, 2007 Author Share June 25, 2007 for map updates, i think u have to buy direct from route66.com for the voice feature .. no subscription is required right?
Osiris 1st Gear June 25, 2007 Share June 25, 2007 voice feature no need to subscribe as far as I know. (it shows unlocked icon) comes in both M/F voices in English, mandarin and Indonesian and malay. If you want other languages or voices can pay for it ba. But freebies voices good enough. The speaker on the phone really loud, have to turn down the default volume by 40%. So u can't miss the instruction. Initial GPS acquisition took at least 1 minute I think. after that ok. only used it 4x so far but all on route i travel frequently. Other than the asking me to turn right to a road on CTE that doesn't exist, so far ok. Map is dated Q3 2006. Don't think I saw an update on route66 webby but still exploring the features. Osiris 1st Gear June 25, 2007 Share June 25, 2007 (edited) Yup. With wifi this phone will be really feature packed. But I don't need it. u considering getting it? Will try to do a review of the phone tonite. u can read that b4 deciding. btw, i step out of the office to get a GPS fix to 'landmark' my office location accurately. GPS fix less than 30 seconds...hmmm... is it because i was stationary? Edited June 25, 2007 by Osiris

Osiris 1st Gear June 25, 2007 Share June 25, 2007 was considering 810. but no maps etc. Bah. I guess the good thing about 810 w/mapking is that the community is established. can get stuff from malsingmaps.com wifi - 4 me still good to have. now shopping with wifey means babysitting duties. did consider all the phones u mentioned. ultimately. I just need a phone, no need PDA function (my PDA collecting dust). The GPS function is a nice to have. probably very seldom use it. The phone also comes with a light sensor that will adjust the display brightness accordingly. with 1 last bar of battery life, I was able to use the GPS for a good 15-20 mins. Robin 4th Gear June 25, 2007 Author Share June 25, 2007 agree... currently 6110 seems to be the best choice cause i'm afraid i cant get used to a Pda its also cost less than the dopod
Sportster Neutral Newbie June 25, 2007 Share June 25, 2007 (edited) for map updates, i think u have to buy direct from route66.com for the voice feature .. no subscription is required right? The voice guided feature is built-in and free which is loud and clear, it give ample notice to inform you to "bear right", "turn right" etc. Just that there are times when I can see on the Navigator some locations or side road at HDB blocks not digitised. Otherwise I would give this a for its ease of use whereby just press a button and the Navigation is on. I'm able to search for some JB location & landmark available on the database. Also observed that when you miss a turn in the calculated route, it will recalculate again immediately with a new route. Not bad for Nokia first foray into GPS, but I have encountered the initial GPS signal acquisition at times varies between 1 to 5 mins, after that it works like a GEM. But for those who can wait, I believe price for the Nokia 6110 Navi will drop further in near future.
