Jkcs Neutral Newbie August 10, 2007 Share August 10, 2007 Hallo everybody... My mileage is now at 11K KM+, and has been using stock spark plug till now. So now I am thinking of changing the plug soon. any side effect of using it for a few more days? My friend told me that for NA car, doesn't need to use high end spark plug as it doesn't fully utilities its performance fully. True or not? for non high end type, what's the cost plus labour? My ride uses 4 plugs. All recommendations are highly appreciated. TIA again. ↡ Advertisement
Fitzy Neutral Newbie August 10, 2007 Share August 10, 2007 I think normal stock plugs can last for 20k. Certain plugs like iridium plugs last longer abt 50k.
Fcw75 Hypersonic August 10, 2007 Share August 10, 2007 20-30K is a good estimate for normal plugs.

Vblaster_w211 2nd Gear August 10, 2007 Share August 10, 2007 (edited) Normal copper tipped can last 30K. For Iridium, may last up to 40K to 60K. Also depends on level of tune and drivig (city driving being worst) Edited August 10, 2007 by Vblaster_w211

Mzrmazda3 6th Gear August 11, 2007 Share August 11, 2007 Bro, IMHO for most of the NA rides si mi platinum, iridium plugs contribute only to a very very small percentage to the performance of the ride Infact, it just give you the 'Smooth smooth' feeling for a few Ks in mileage then you are back to square one You'll need to re-gap them at every servicing interval to maximise their performance. Platinum & iridium plugs only prolong the change interval of spark plugs I'm using iridium plugs by the way and though the agent say will only need to change at 100K interval but i'm changing at 40K instead
Fitzy Neutral Newbie August 11, 2007 Share August 11, 2007 How often do we need to regap iridium plugs, every 10k?
Mzrmazda3 6th Gear August 11, 2007 Share August 11, 2007 Bro, this i'm not so sure but guess the safe way is every servicing which is about 10K interval I doubt the local agent's workshop will do re-gapping unlike outside workshop whereby you'll need to tell them to do so ↡ Advertisement
