Pandaeyes Neutral Newbie October 24, 2007 Share October 24, 2007 (edited) I don't know how many over here has this problem with selespeed. My ride has been having this problem with jerking gerarbox when moving off from 1st gear since 3 months after I got my ride. Agent has changed Clutch Assembly and Trottle Body, thinking that could be due to these areas of problems. Spent $2500 already. But still jerking very badly. The car practically hops and n a bang sound is heard all throughout the day and night. No one in Agent side has so far been able to solve the problem. What shall I do? Frustrated that I spending alot of good money on bad stuff. Car practically un-drivable. Changing car is not realy a good option as I'm stuck with a top up. Get a full repalcement car? Galantspeedz Turbocharged October 24, 2007 Share October 24, 2007 gearbox should be under warranty... tell agent what they think wear and tear, now gearbox got problem means got problem..... change it!
Eyke Supercharged October 24, 2007 Share October 24, 2007 (edited) you should ask them to solve the problem within the near future, otherwise give you in black and white stating that it's wear n tear and not covered under warranty. i'm sure potential buyers will be keen to know that they have to bear the cost of replacing Selespeed gearbox while the car is still in warranty and within 2yrs of purchase why did you pay them $2500 if they didn't solve the problem? Moeykf Neutral Newbie October 24, 2007 Share October 24, 2007 You better make noise to the agents before the warranty expires and u will regret big time. you might wan to get advise from a forumer by the nick of "Fortress". He is good in Alfas.
Rickster 5th Gear October 24, 2007 Share October 24, 2007 You better go bang table and don't wait anymore. Also demand for a refund for the $2.5K u had spent on the so called "wear & tear" parts as clearly, it is not the "wear & tear" that cause the gearbox to be so jerky. Watwheels Supersonic October 24, 2007 Share October 24, 2007 Yeah. He should also sent an e-mail to AR HQ to tell them about the incompetence of the mechanics and the unscruptulous ways of the local AD.
Msimax Neutral Newbie October 24, 2007 Share October 24, 2007 Trust TTS had tried to rectify for u? My suggestion only: bring it down to Alfa City and request to plug in Examiner to check, miminal fee might be required. After AC conclude for you e problem, bring it in to TTS and relay the parts that have to be changed if your ride is still covered under warranty. Bro, thought u did a couple of mods to ur ride? Could those be the problems? Why not strip everything and let it be as stock as possible. It's a very electronic ride, no point modding too much. Msimax Neutral Newbie October 24, 2007 Share October 24, 2007 (edited) It's a Fiat not an AR though both under the same group. Any my perception of all AD regardless of brands, they're almost e same else outside workshops how to survive. Pandaeyes Neutral Newbie October 24, 2007 Author Share October 24, 2007 My car is totally stock now. Sent to Alfa City before to plug into Examiner for check. No software issues. It must be hardware. I feel totally unjustified for my $2500 paid and not solving the problem. I'm sending in again. God knows how much is my next. They told me get ready $5000 for gearbox change. Ridiculous. U think I'm very rich? I'm very disapointed.
Davidklt Supercharged October 24, 2007 Share October 24, 2007 Italian quality at play... thats why people still have this fear factor about buying Alfas.
Fortress Clutched October 24, 2007 Share October 24, 2007 Do not know much about your model and made and year. My suggestion is to take it up with Italy, which I did some years ago when I had my 164s.

W210k 1st Gear October 25, 2007 Share October 25, 2007 At this stage and the probable level of damage already incurred within the transmission system and linkages, I think you would be better off selling the Alfa. It is very unlikely that the car can be repaired and restored to its pristine condition - given the level of workshop expertise and support that you have described. I have owned an Alfa Romeo for 2 years (from brand new). After that brief encounter, I have stayed away from that brand for the longest time ..... Pandaeyes Neutral Newbie October 25, 2007 Author Share October 25, 2007 I agree. My lock in period for my loan is 2 yrs. I have anotehr 5 more mths then no more penalty. Once it's up, I'll change my ride. Had a gd talk w a second hand dealer ytd. Not wise of me to top up $9k now. My penalty is $4k, as I've checked my bank. My top up actually not that much. Luckily. Davedesouza Neutral Newbie October 26, 2007 Share October 26, 2007 (edited) Hiya bro... sorry to hear your problem. I am also a Fiat owner - second one now. Previous was a Mk2b Punto 6 speed CVT - that was one fine ride but temtation and i traded for a Bravo T-jet. Very happy and had no problems with my Mk2b. Possibly yr panda is one off problem. My bro-in-law driving the new Punto automatic and also very happy with the car and no probls. Yours seem strange problem. Did you modify the car and encounter the problem? Hope they can solve your problem. The Panda is very nice especially the luminius green but me too fat to fit in one. lol Edited October 26, 2007 by Davedesouza ↡ Advertisement
