Spinworkx Clutched December 17, 2007 Share December 17, 2007 I'm using the 13" White Macbook. I believe i'm the one and only person in my company using my personal notebook instead of the company given IBM :) I'm a Network Engineer so i'm also one of the few that is using a mac for networking enviroment and i have some good and bad experiences with the mac and there's a few things you still can't do without windows. Firstly, for normal daily usage like email/internet/msn etc...the mac OS works great. But when it comes to connecting to coporate networks, the mac just don't do a good job, not even entourage 2008..i tried that but because that's not native MAPI but an emulation so it doesn't work flawlessly. Connection to Cisco WPA wireless is also not possible in my office :) Neither is RSA working... So i'm forced to use Parallels, which is a horrible software that's buggy as hell but i have no choice la...can't run bootcamp since it need to run 2 OS at the same time. Alot of software in my job only runs in Windows as well so again..no coice... Bottom line, for a pure IT enviroment/job, the Mac still don't cut it...but for normal users, it's great.. Oh and one major flaw in the Macbook (only the macbook not the pro), is the stupid bluetooth not available issue which is hardware related...tons of people over the world have this issue and Apple has no solution until today...My mac somtimes just can't sleep ebcause of it....i have to shut down allt he time...it's irritating as hell but Apple can't fix it....dumb... Overall..although i sitll like the OS, i have found so many bugs and flaws with it that i can't say it's better than windows....as i still need to run both...each has it's own good/bad points.... BTW, I've gotten more kernal crashed and hangs on my Leopard/Tiger OS than i've got in Windows :)
Guyver 1st Gear December 17, 2007 Author Share December 17, 2007 I guess most of the users here don't have to interconnect as much to network like you ... so therefore did not get the kind of problem you kana-ed. So are you going to switch to IBM from you company?
Guyver 1st Gear December 17, 2007 Author Share December 17, 2007 If you inform the admin to change your nick for you ... then everything would remain the same. But if you were to create a new one ... then it'll be "sa-mu-la" ...

Kax2 Neutral Newbie December 27, 2007 Share December 27, 2007 I used to wrok for Apple. Free IMac and Ibook usage everyday. Your right for most part that it's cool to use an Apple computer, however I hate the one button mouse. U have to press Apple key and then the mouse key to use as window's second mouse click, not good for windows based software like excel.
Cklasse 1st Gear December 28, 2007 Share December 28, 2007 There's already a company here that's outfitting rides with Mac Minis. Can't remember the link. Will post if I find it. Fit into cars? Instead of fitting in a car, why not put the mac mini into a spaceship? Check out this site...http://www.macmod.com/content/view/371/101/

Rellik Neutral Newbie December 28, 2007 Share December 28, 2007 Use a mac .. you would not regret. With Office for Mac .. it settles most of your documentation needs. Entourage for Outlook. Just use Thunderbird to migrate all your emails. Everything done in a jiffy. With leopard, you will find everything a breeze. What i like about my mac (btw, i am a new convert. Got my Macbook less than 1 month ago) - type command shift 4. that is one cool printscreen. - boot up very fast .. as compared to my windows xp on my acer. - cool factor!!! - my mac book's adaptor head is really cool .. magnetic. when i first started out, half the time i was wondering if it is properly secured. - low on virus vulnerability - i have learned and grown to love applications like Quicksilver, Photo Booth, Vienna etc. - it is behaving identical to my windows .. so getting used to it takes around 1 hr for me, with occassional surprises up to today on some applications. Still discovering more fun about my MacBook. I love it.
