17000 rebate for OPC should be pro-rated into remaining years. Since the register date is May 2001, it will expire in May 2011, that means still remaining 38 months. 38/120 * 17000 = 5383. So it means if converto into OPC get rebate of about 5383 only. Even then I'm not sure how this rebate is appropriately processed.

Think what he means is that the depreciation is $2411 per year (16800-9500 divide by 3) as shown in the ad.

According to him in the description, if you get a rebate of $2200 for converting to OPC, it's almost free... [laugh]

try to avoid this car as far as possible. this dealer has advertised a few daewoo lanos in a span of a few months, which i think is rather unprecedented. somemore all $101 COE ones. Are there really that many lanos around or its the same car not being able to disposed off having a new coat of paint?

Price wise its not worth it. about 6mths ago, daewoo lanos with higher OMV were sold for $16k. the depreciation per yr was ranged from 1.6k to 1.8k for this model but it seemed quite hard to sell off.

reliability wise it really depends on how well the previous owners maintain their cars. daewoos are rather reliable if they are well maintained. if not, 7th yr will be a real testing point.

one thing to note is the current high fuel prices. my family has owned 2 daewoos before all manual ones. you would be very happy to get about 10km/1 with lightfooted driving. heavy-right foot and u're down to 8-9 km/l somemore this is an old engine.

factor is a couple of thousands for maintenance. daewoo's parts are more exp than hyundais.

u'll get back $2,200 per yr if u convert to OPC at the end of COE plus ur PARF but its just paper money. With govt reducing ARF in the forseeable future... high PARF paper might not be much use. if you can tahan OPC restrictions, get another $101 COE car, but another model. [sly]

hope this helps u in your decision.

the 17k don't get pro-rated when one changes it to OPC in the mid years..

it's only given during initial registeration but have to pro-rate and pay back when converting back to normal.
