Kxbc Turbocharged March 11, 2008 Share March 11, 2008 Bros, need some advice here. While washing the car on Sunday, noticed that there are fine droplets of clear transparent glue-like things stuck mostly to my windscreen and parts of my bonnet. Suspect someone was spraying that liquid and it landed on my car. Now these droplets are stuck fast to the car. Tried to remove by scraping them off with fingernails but not much success. My wipers cannot wipe off the rain clearly as there are holes made by these droplets when I activate the wipers. Do you know what I can do to remove these irritants? Some solvent perhaps? Or just brute force to get rid of them? TIA. ↡ Advertisement
Maddriver 4th Gear March 11, 2008 Share March 11, 2008 some methods you can try..if you have try using fingernail to scrap and not much improvement..not sure if the below steps helps.. 1. get the 3M sandpaper from stamford tyres.. clay it with shampoo.. 2. Try a window polish 3. Machine polish 4. Worst case..get a penknife and scrap it down..this require lots of shampoo for lubricant to prevent scratching. Nohnemwan 1st Gear March 11, 2008 Share March 11, 2008 MD has answered for the paintwork aspect. Here is my suggestion for the glass - since it is a safety issue (compared to paintwork which is mostly cosmetic issue) it may be more urgent to you because these few days are raining and your wiper function is impaired. I have the same problem before with overspray from some industrial painting project. I used this product with 100% success: http://www.bonami.com/ Most FairPrice do not have this, you need to go to Cold Storage. It is under $5 the last time I bought it. It looks scary when you apply it because it looks like Vim but it does not scratch glass. You must use a sponge to apply - do not use a gauze pad ("green wool"). That one gurantee will scratch the glass even if you have nothing else but water. Good luck,
Kxbc Turbocharged March 11, 2008 Author Share March 11, 2008 Thanks. Will try washing the windscreen again this weekend and see if can remove using penknife. What's a window polish? Is it like those household glass cleaner? Now my wipers have holes in it and I can't change them until I get rid of the droplets. Luckily now not rainy season. Testa_ross4 Clutched March 11, 2008 Share March 11, 2008 Please buy a safe plastic adhesive remover, it looks like a flat plastic spade. Get some lighter fluid or soap solution, spray on the windscreen and slowly scrape it off with the plastic tool. Please do not use a machine or sand paper. Kxbc Turbocharged March 11, 2008 Author Share March 11, 2008 (edited) Thanks but what's "Jeff from Prime"? Is it Jif (now called Cif) which can be purchased from Prime Supermart? Do you know what those droplets are? I still cannot figure it out. They only landed on the windscreen and bonnet. None elsewhere. It looks super glue-like though. Evoluzio Neutral Newbie March 11, 2008 Share March 11, 2008 First I suspected it could be a crack in the windscreen, but since you said there are such stuff on the bonnet too, then maybe not. But still there is a chance it might be.
Maddriver 4th Gear March 11, 2008 Share March 11, 2008 Give it a try on the product bro Noh recommend.. A window polish is for removing oil film ..tree sap etc.. for the penknife metod..there is some special method to do it.. For machine polish.. dun worry it scratch the glass.. a 3M sandpaper sold in stamford is meant for claying of glass... some use is for wetsanding
Kxbc Turbocharged March 11, 2008 Author Share March 11, 2008 It's not a crack. When I ran my fingers over my windscreen, I can feel them protruding on the windscreen. I do not have long fingernails to scratch it. The wife managed to scratch some off but the rest are just too stubborn.

Ocp23 Neutral Newbie June 2, 2008 Share June 2, 2008 Hi, Apology to Kxbc to ride on your post. I too have some substance stuck to my bonnet. I parked my silver car in a basement carpark for 2 nights and to my horror, to find a leaking ceiling dripping a mixture of water and white paint onto my bonnet. I tried to wipe off but it left a white patch about the size of a fist. I tried to wash and polish it but to no avail. I also tried to scratch it off using my nails but not successful. Is there any recommendation on how I can DIY. Any product to try? Can I use nail polish remover etc Thank you. Regards ↡ Advertisement
