for my stock cheepo hankook, it wasn't too noisy. but grip is CMI

 

so i changed to a better BS tyre, then a better hankook

I would prefer comfort more than speed. My ears have enough of noise pollution from my current lancer liao.

 

Furthermore im almost an ah pek liao. So those fast and furry type will be out. But i dont mind a Mark-X tho. But resale pricetag of sub 70+k is little on the high side.

 

I would like to do more road trips to MY. Especially Cameroon highlands and kuantan and maybe even penang. This current lancer cant really make a 150km/hr drive comfortable. A sonata might be better for long driving trips.

lancer can go penang la. i hope to go even further in my 1.1 getz. but comfort simply cannot compare with larger car. sonata shd be very good for touring, for a car of that price

santa fe 2.7litres - frankly equally quiet if not better but only downside is that 2.7litres too small for 1.9tonnes - is a torture to drive and very dangerous as reaction is not fast enough for overtaking.

I have read through your postings and i think the Sonata is one car that suits you. my father-in-law used to own the 2.4l variant. drove it a few times and i'm impressed about the engine's response, the spaciousness and the quietness.

 

He was running on 16" then and went up to Genting in that car with 5 x adults (approx. 400kg). climbed genting effortlessly and the cruising speed was 140km/h. cabin was quiet except for slight noise intrusion from the tyres. if you are looking at 100kmh on SG rds, u might just doze off. : )

 

FC is 8km/l to 10km/l (SG driving). NSH ard 12km/l

 

its good that you are considering buying it second hand. the complaint is that it has no resale value. this doesn't bother you too much as the 1st owner has already absorbed most of the dep.

 

go for the test drive and be slightly impressed.

Hankook not that cheap you now? Korean tyres not sold at Korean car equivalent prices. Hankook is a JV with Michelin leh. In some countries, they are used as stock tyres for the premium conti cars.
