Doing some research on safety features to help me recommend a car to a family member.

Can I know the (A) number of airbags, (B) presence of ABS and © presence of EBD in the Cerato 1.6M, Verna 1.4M, Rio Sedan 1.4M and Aveo Sedan 1.4M?

they exist in other countries. its the distributor that orders their stocks with very low specs. a picanto has front airbags, side airbags and even ABS in other countries.

safety is not abt pillows and abs/ebd

all the models u listed are basically steel cans, all their body structure not designed to absorb impact, but rather entire impact will be harsh and transfered to the humans inside

Rio: Models sold here has No safety features at all...not even ABS

If got airbag + ABS, would get Euroncap 4 stars [thumbsup]http://www.euroncap.com/tests/kia_rio_2005/240.aspx

Verna: Driver airbag + ABS

Unknown crash test results

Cerato: Twin front airbags + ABS

Has a EuroNcap result of 3 stars only http://www.euroncap.com/tests/kia_cerato_2006/249.aspx

Aveo: Even with ABS/airbag combo, does very poorly in crash tests...there seems to be alot of cabin intrusion.

Thank you, this is useful info. For a limited budget, can't get to choose those NCAP 4 or 5 star cars, so have to choose among those I listed.

By the way, how is the structural integrity of the Mits Lancer GLX?

I beg to differ.

Citroen C4 Euroncap frontal collision awards it 15 points

http://www.euroncap.com/tests/citroen_c4_2004/203.aspx

Renault Megane Eurocap frontal collision awards it 14 points

http://www.euroncap.com/tests/renault_megane_2002/146.aspx

Mazda 2 Euroncap frontal collision awards it 16 points

http://www.euroncap.com/tests/mazda_2_2007/306.aspx

Mazda 2 is so much smaller than a C4 a Megane.

The test shows all the cars crashing with half the front part onto a stationary solid beam at a speed of 64km/hr.

The results speaks.

come back when u done homework please

"Neither the results for frontal impact nor the overall adult occupant rating should be compared between cars in different size categories."

if u want to test a c4 / megane vs a maz2, go ahead

if u got the balls to use ur own maz2 if u own one, i salute u

p.s. no effence, jap car still a jap car...i dun like mazda, dun trust mazda [laugh]

Thanks for the highlight, for a moment i thought the megane & C4 are in the supermini cat due to those models being tested are hatches.

Ok, to compare the frontal impact of Mz2 in supermini section only, very few conti models can do better.

a 207 is supermini can does better than a maz2

u are comparing a brand new model with two 5 yr old models, this alone shows how lacking japan cars are in terms of safety (even with the assumption size does not matter)

hard bodyshell is not enough, its how the impact energy is dispersed without cabin intrusion

Agree that hard bodyshell is not the answer, however, I think its only fair to say that jap models nowadays already have learnt from their western counterparts by designing cars with impact dissipitation and definately not hard bodyshells.
