Keppy Neutral Newbie June 4, 2008 Author Share June 4, 2008 The way you're replying and how intimately you know the problem, I'm confused whether it is your friend's car or your car. Anyway, it does not make a difference one way or the other, its just an observation. The problem is still the same. If SE's car is not like that, test drive car not like that, then problem lies with your "friend's" car. Of course, maybe IMM carpark ramps are steeper than usual. It could be the gearbox is slipping. Which can be bad when its a manual, worse if its an auto. haha... Im wondering why are u having such suspisions?? anyways I was replying to the post while asking my friend the question on the phone so the above answers are all from her.. I dont see whats the issue with regards to the question. But definately appreciate ur input on the last part of ur msg.
Keppy Neutral Newbie June 4, 2008 Author Share June 4, 2008 From wad i heard from her is that the SE is still trying to arrange for her car to be tested... cos she actually told SE about it and SE herself say its not possible that it cannot go up in 2gear... I understand tat most ppl will go up in 2nd gear but even gradual slop the car has problems...
Keppy Neutral Newbie June 4, 2008 Author Share June 4, 2008 Maybe ask your friend to pretend to be new customer.Call up the SE to let you test drive the car at your place, say some units beside IMM area. Then testdrive the car up IMM slope to see whether got difference between the two or not. No point complaining to Mech, they are not the car designer. They DON'T care about you nor your car. They will never bother to spend time to throughly check your car to see what is the real reason for the problems. No point complaining to the SE/Boss as they already earned your money. They will keep telling you its like that one, its the original design, its suppose to drive like that.....ALL the usual standard reply. The best is to let some expert test drive the car, the experts will then give you an honest opinion. I am willing to test drive the car if you friend is OK. I have experience in MR-S, BMW M3, Copen, S14, IS200, Sunny, SSS, Lancer. So I think I am expert enough to give your friend a honest opinion about his particular car. No need to pretend la.. whats the point... btw wads ur job huh? jus curious
Keppy Neutral Newbie June 4, 2008 Author Share June 4, 2008 depends on ur momentum. if walking pace, of course 1st gear la.. but i believe TS means normal driving up. u shd be able to USE 2nd gear. speed shd be abt 10-15km/h at least (walking pace is 3-4km/h, 5 and above is brisk walk liao) Yes yes not start stop or wad jus normal driving up I drive up MSCP in 2nd gear in a lancer as well... but tried her car cannot
Keppy Neutral Newbie June 4, 2008 Author Share June 4, 2008 4- 5k rpm on first gear is not realistic on IMM? Unless steep slope like genting. Engine problem nono not on slop but when want to be able to get up in 2nd gear smooth have to rav until 4-5k before swtiching...
Keppy Neutral Newbie June 4, 2008 Author Share June 4, 2008 just as a reference, my getz can crawl up the slope at 1.5k rpm in 2nd. 1.1 liter btw this same 2nd gear can go up to abt 70km/h or so also.. i know not very high but just some reference figures. not sure what t11 does.. Eh i also dont know cos she jus got the car last thurs...

Kooler Neutral Newbie September 17, 2008 Share September 17, 2008 Frd me driving 1.6M Lancer go MSCP oso 1st gear,2nd gear no pwr esp with aircon on.My previous civic oso abt the same so it's normal lah. Posting on behalf of a friend. Got a new chery T11 1.6 and the problem is ..... this car cannot go up slope on Imm carpark in 2nd gear. when engage the RPM never go up. so hv to go up the cp all the way using 1st gear... not much ppl in the car only driver n 1 passanger. anyone knows why?? Chery mach say this car no power so hv to drag 1st gear to 4-5k RPM to be able to go up in 2nd gear why??? any long term damage other than petrol in long run?? Will ask friend to monitor this thread.. thanks alot!!!!
Pisces69 6th Gear September 17, 2008 Share September 17, 2008 I assume its manual gear. I think many China cars gear ratio is too high. It makes for good fuel consumption on flat roads. China still relatively less multistorey carparks, so they design mainly for straight roads. Becaus of the gear ratio their 0-100km/hr acceleration figures can go up to 16-20seconds. Please loh....there will be no long term damage if you use 1st gear to go up IMM all the time lah. If you use 1st gear to go up and down genting, maybe there may be overheating problem. But in Singapore....its ok lah....not many high mountains/carparks. So what you suggest??? u r only telling me tat gear ratio but can u kindly also put in ways to improve?? thanks. Another thing is TEST Drive car is not like that at all and SE's car also not like that. During test drive she did go up a ramp but there is movement from RPM at 2nd gear.. ============================= My fren has a T11 & I sat in it b4. 3 pple plus lots of fishing stuff incl 3 cooler boxes (loaded on return with fish & ice). The car is quite powerful. Even at 140kmh, it is still stable, quiet & smooth. I was very surprised as I never trusted China cars but honestly, I was very surprised. But I still ask for how long wil it b so good? Maybe after a year or two it wil start to fall apart?

Will ask friend to monitor this thread.. thanks alot!!!! Don't be too worry abt it. It's normal, at least for a family sedan. For 1l to 1.1l cars, they are design to have more torque at low gears. I own both Kelisa and drove Picanto for a week so I can tell. Though 1.6 catagory do suffer a bit on pickup, but like what other bro said, cruising and overtaking at midrange is a breeze. Car is heavy but ride is stable, downside is of cos FC.
Nkps 1st Gear September 17, 2008 Share September 17, 2008 Ok....ask you friend to lend me his car for half a day. I will verify for him what is the probable design fault in this car that does not allow a 2nd gear up slope capability. There are thousands of reason I can think of. Maybe there is a gravity sensor that detect the steep slope and limit the engine and gear to 1st gear only, safety feature! You know to prevent high speed overturn on steep slope! i am also reading china car section in this forum u know...

Keppy Neutral Newbie September 17, 2008 Author Share September 17, 2008 yup stable car i must say.. eh.. no update about the issue already but last i heard she drove up to genting, on the way back to SGP clutch jam so gear 2/3 all the way back to SGP. I dont know what happen after that... Thank Kooler for "reviving" thread and providing info for his ride. Enjoy MCF!!
Shull Turbocharged September 17, 2008 Share September 17, 2008 (edited) the weight of this car is 1750kg.. 1.6L car with 1750kg? maybe that is the reason... i think that explains it.. based on chery's webby..the 1.6L is churning out 110bhp..hardly enough to pull a 1.7ton body.. edit: me bad..forgot the check the weight of the car..based on chery's webby, the unladen weight of T11 is 1.4ton.. in comparison..my 1.5L is producing 105bhp..but my car body is barely 1.1ton..
