Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear November 17, 2010 Share November 17, 2010 Posting on behalf of a friend. Got a new chery T11 1.6 and the problem is ..... this car cannot go up slope on Imm carpark in 2nd gear. when engage the RPM never go up. so hv to go up the cp all the way using 1st gear... not much ppl in the car only driver n 1 passanger. anyone knows why?? Chery mach say this car no power so hv to drag 1st gear to 4-5k RPM to be able to go up in 2nd gear why??? any long term damage other than petrol in long run?? Will ask friend to monitor this thread.. thanks alot!!!! Incompatible transmission gear ratio/incorrect clutch adjustment. Mechanic may be able to calibrate clutch adjustment. But change transmission gearbox quite out of question
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear November 17, 2010 Share November 17, 2010 maybe 1.6 Manual then from stop he attempt to go up ramp? 2nd gear will certainly stall it Attend refresher driving lessons can help: Always accelerate vehicle uphill with lowest gear, then change up to next gear
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear November 17, 2010 Share November 17, 2010 Maybe ask your friend to pretend to be new customer. Call up the SE to let you test drive the car at your place, say some units beside IMM area. Then testdrive the car up IMM slope to see whether got difference between the two or not. No point complaining to Mech, they are not the car designer. They DON'T care about you nor your car. They will never bother to spend time to throughly check your car to see what is the real reason for the problems. No point complaining to the SE/Boss as they already earned your money. They will keep telling you its like that one, its the original design, its suppose to drive like that.....ALL the usual standard reply. The best is to let some expert test drive the car, the experts will then give you an honest opinion. I am willing to test drive the car if you friend is OK. I have experience in MR-S, BMW M3, Copen, S14, IS200, Sunny, SSS, Lancer. So I think I am expert enough to give your friend a honest opinion about his particular car. Mercy-mercy, you have not test-driven a China made car yet, so can only assume?
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear November 17, 2010 Share November 17, 2010 I assume its manual gear. I think many China cars gear ratio is too high. It makes for good fuel consumption on flat roads. China still relatively less multistorey carparks, so they design mainly for straight roads. Becaus of the gear ratio their 0-100km/hr acceleration figures can go up to 16-20seconds. Please loh....there will be no long term damage if you use 1st gear to go up IMM all the time lah. If you use 1st gear to go up and down genting, maybe there may be overheating problem. But in Singapore....its ok lah....not many high mountains/carparks. So what you suggest??? u r only telling me tat gear ratio but can u kindly also put in ways to improve?? thanks. Another thing is TEST Drive car is not like that at all and SE's car also not like that. During test drive she did go up a ramp but there is movement from RPM at 2nd gear.. ============================= My fren has a T11 & I sat in it b4. 3 pple plus lots of fishing stuff incl 3 cooler boxes (loaded on return with fish & ice). The car is quite powerful. Even at 140kmh, it is still stable, quiet & smooth. I was very surprised as I never trusted China cars but honestly, I was very surprised. But I still ask for how long wil it b so good? Maybe after a year or two it wil start to fall apart? It will speak Mandarin? (laugh)
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear November 17, 2010 Share November 17, 2010 this leepee sounds haolian and arrogant. does anyone know who the heck he/she is? potential F1 driver or ex-rally champion? Assumption Expert or layman too?
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear November 17, 2010 Share November 17, 2010 hi all, its a pity that singaporeans always think tat way. i repeat: if a merc owner's merc break down he will say he "sway" only one kena. if a korean or now china car break down, he will say all korean or china cars are like dat, lousy, not reliable!!! now a korean or china car owner wans to sell his car, he will say korean or china car no resale value, next time dun buy. but if he were to own a jap car, the depreciation will b even higher, n also send for scrap. he never think its bcos now COE is all time low tat affects the resale value. worst!!! people buying a 1.6litre big size SUV, thinking he/she expecting the performance of a 2 litre turbo EVO X or ferrari? well, be fair, if the car is at fault, have it checked, dun flame the mechanic for ignoring your problem, its your attitude, if u r nice to the mechanic, he will take care of your car. he is also human afterall, as many people think customer is always right? well, dun take this BS as a motto of your life, u will create more enemies than u think. else if not due to car, its the driver, either his skills or expectation is not rite!!! so be fair in judging a korean/chinese/malaysian car and in future a indian car. people never think of the savings they get from buying a china car as compared to jap cars. furthermore, as wat i know, u pay the china car price and get much much more in specs for Chery than any jap car u can find in singapore. be contented. solve problems immediately. everyone will b happy Laymen are those who compare with prejudice or inconsistent datum/reference
Ooosh 1st Gear November 17, 2010 Share November 17, 2010 (edited) the weight of this car is 1750kg.. 1.6L car with 1750kg? maybe that is the reason... u think driving mercedes s300 ah......sigh. Edited November 17, 2010 by Ooosh
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear November 17, 2010 Share November 17, 2010 suggest that you talk to anyone at the service centre that is driving the same T11. This will give you a direct answer. Well said. I come to find out how to fine tune my test-driving of the demo car at the showroom
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear November 17, 2010 Share November 17, 2010 Hi TS, Maybe your friend can go external workshopinspection centre for 2nd opinion ? from your infor given , i guess is the clutch or the gear box that is giving problem . Based on what had been revealed, TS may find refresher driving lessons helpful
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear November 17, 2010 Share November 17, 2010 T11 body so heavy if you are driving 1.6l, the engine will over work, 2.0l should be better. I believe the 1.6L engine is to entertain our COE and Road tax structure. So you win some, you loose some
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear November 17, 2010 Share November 17, 2010 I agree with what you say. By sharing thru this platform, hopefully people eyes will be more open. First laugh at Japanese car as Tin can, then laugh at korean car, then laugh at Thai car, now laugh at Chinese car. next time maybe laugh at India and Africa car............., Next time people from other country ask you, why you keep laughing at people, your country make any car or not? Be more humble and objective, stop gambling our chips away. I believe they are just happy grumbling
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear November 17, 2010 Share November 17, 2010 Bro, sorry to interject, I owned a Cherry QQ before and I think we both face the same problem as your friend Cherry T11. For my QQ the car sometimes go up carpark ramp is very scary coz no power. Othertimes the power come back. Another bro commented onthe gear ratio, and I think his point may be valid. But my observation is that something is wrong about the tuning of the engine. Sometimes got power burst, sometimes like can't move. I brought back to agent at Kaki Bukit, asked mechanic retune the engine... then much better... Then funny thing is that after revving engine for some time, the tuning out again.... unlike other cars. No mention how frequently it happened, nor how often it happened. I can only speculate the engine could had been over-speed until it loose power (not so funny, you end up paying for repairs later, and often)
Pisces69 6th Gear November 17, 2010 Share November 17, 2010 It will speak Mandarin? (laugh) Ah.....no wonder i cud not ustand what e voice navigation was saying. But seriously, another of my fishing kaki just bought 1 [T11] also n he say mainly cos its cheap but big enough fr our fishing trips. I guess there is a market fr these China cars in SG but only after a few years wil we know e reliability issues of them. Another thing is what happens if e AD decides to give it up. Then spares wil definitely become an issue.
Pisces69 6th Gear November 17, 2010 Share November 17, 2010 I believe the 1.6L engine is to entertain our COE and Road tax structure. So you win some, you loose some 2 of my frens now own e T11 1.6 lit manual n its actually not that sluggish. When i sat in both of them, it was fully loaded wh fishing gear, 3 big cooler boxes full of fish n ice n a driver n 2 pax. I was quite surprised on e car as i never tot a China car cud b that good fr that price. The only question in my mind now is hw wil it stand-up to e test of time n what if e dealer gives up e dealership. Getting spares n some repairs might become a problem. Be more humble and objective, stop gambling our chips away. This reminds me of a joke. Last time when Proton was doing very well, Mahatter n LKY attended a confrence of world leaders n Madhatter purposely sat beside LKY cos he wanted to boast abt his baby, Proton. So during dinner he start to tell lky abt how he envision n go tru all e process of building MY own car n how successful it has become. Lky was controlling himself but when Dr,M said how every car makes a profit of Rm 10k, lky quietly tell him, "'My dear Dr.M, u go tru so much trouble. Take such big risk n headache just to make a measly RM10k per car. Fr us, we dont need such hassle. We just print a piece of paper [COE] n auction to e highest bidders n we can make abt RM100k fr each piece of paper we sell.'' Immediately Dr.M shut up n lky was able to eat his dinner in peace. ↡ Advertisement
