Kelpie 2nd Gear June 19, 2008 Share June 19, 2008 Hi all, 1. For the HDB dweller, do you put your shoe rack just outside your door or along the corridor? Is installing customized shoe rack just outside your door an illegal act? 2. Any concerns of shoes being stolen away? What will happen, if the cleaner wash the corridors? Please advise me. Thank you very much. Regards, ↡ Advertisement

Singer Neutral Newbie June 19, 2008 Share June 19, 2008 Bro, depends on the width of the corridor but most have makeshift ones next to the door. Customised one, as long as doesnt disturb the physical structure of the unit is ok, eg of the same dimension and structure to the ready made ones. Just make sure to only put chaepo items outside Cleaners hv their own time table to spring clean the corridor. Either you take note of this or do like what i do, sweet talk with bangla so that they cover the shoes/sandals with a plastic mat that i purposely prepared for. Kp it at a place where is easily accesible by the cleaner
Boyboy 1st Gear June 19, 2008 Share June 19, 2008 it's against HDB regulations but wth, i did that anyway all those malay house decor technically is against HDB regulations also, as they drill them into the corridor ceiling, etc etc, but as long as it doesn't block pple's way, nothing shd happen. and of course dun offend other neighbours, maybe ask them if they mind. some corridors can be quite narrow
Scoop Neutral Newbie June 19, 2008 Share June 19, 2008 I use those cheap shoe rack that can be found at DIY or hardware store, best is would those plastic cos will get wet when cleaner do their routine washing. Typhoonz 4th Gear June 20, 2008 Share June 20, 2008 Is your customised shoe rack fixed or movable? If it's movable then I guess it okie... Just as long it doesn't obstruct the pathway and of course your neighbours don't complain... As for the risk of your shoes being stolen, anything that's not locked can and will be stolen so it's totally at your own risk... No more place inside your house? I only put my slippers outside and the rest of the shoes in my house...
Sfhuang Clutched June 20, 2008 Share June 20, 2008 I used to put a shoe rack outside the door, until I lost a pair of Teva sport sandals and also a pair of SAF sport sandals. I suspect both pairs were stolen by the bangla cleaners, because I saw one bangla downstairs wearing Teva sport sandals that were exactly the same as mine. Silhoutte Clutched June 20, 2008 Share June 20, 2008 How about a shoe box instead? A shoe box can include a lock so that your shoes stay safe inside it. I believe if the rack / box is placed properly without obstructing the walking path, then it shouldn't be a problem at all. Cheers.

Kelpie 2nd Gear June 20, 2008 Author Share June 20, 2008 It seems like there many problems associated with putting shoe rack outside of the door. I was told, putting dirty shoes at home is bad Feng Shui. No choice, will customized shoe rack at home near to the door instead. Thank you all for comments.
