Should the windscreen polished with wax or without?

Guys,

 

I know some of you actually polished the windscreen with wax so which is the preferred way in order the wiper will not judder?

i thought u use normal wiper and stop using rainx how come still judder?

 

u go search "cerium oxide" on MCF. this is a glass "polish" that supposedly can help. it can even remove rain x contamination

 

personally, i like the beading and juddering isn't too big a problem unless i apply too much. i use silicon wiper blade AND rain X

Yes, it appear that my Cefiro's windscreen is coated with a layer of wax as I can see water beading on the windscreen. I complain to TCM but guess they only polished it and change a new pair of wiper.

 

I encounter wiper juddering at times if the windscreen is too dry and sometimes, it produce some noise when wipe across the windscreen.

 

Now I not sure whether I should totally remove the wax layer on the windscreen or just leave it?

actually, when windscreed is dry, judder shows the wiper very "siap"

 

unless u mean while raining, also judder (rainX juddering). that one a bit sian la

Anyway, I found out somewhere in the internet that you can use any soda drink like Pepsi or Coke to do cleaning on your windscreen.

 

I actually did that and you can see how the coke can help you clean up those dirts on your front windscreen.

I usually use a foam pad and autoglym glass polish after weekly washes, do give the wipers a scrub when washing, do not use the pad and cloth for your windscreen for anything else, wash them with dish detergent after use.

 

Its normal for wipers to squeak when the windscreen is not too wet, however it should not be juddering.

 

Avoid wash & wax shampoo.

 

Only apply rain-x on side windows and rear windscreen.

 

You might want to try vinegar and some elbow grease on the windscreen, might help the judder.

Brother, thanks for your tip and I did try the vinegar but just cannot stand the smell.

 

The wiper still squeak when it reaches the side of the windscreen near the driver's side pillar there so I was thinking to replace the traditional wiper with the Bosch Aero Twin as I don't have such squeaking noise from the Aero Twin and it wipe very smoothly too.

Autobac carry's a product that can remove oil film coating on the windscreen.It cost <$10 .

 

It's in japanese word so don't understand what it said but it's a rubbing compound that effectively remove those oil films .It's a yellow bottle that comes with a sponge.

You can also try Duragloss #755 Glass water spot remover.

Easy on easy off.

TCM will change the wipers every 20K, you can request not to have them changed but the rebate is boh hua.

 

Try to use a water based dressing for the plastic trim on the windscreen.

 

Was prevously using an oil based one, looks good in the dry but makes the windscreen judder like crazy when it rains.

Oh, they will change the wiper for you free huh so not advisable to change to Bosch AeroTwin huh?

 

But the sickening squeaking sound is making me mad so what should I do now after using soda and little vinegar to clean on the windscreen?

 

I can still see some water spot mark on the windscreen leh? How to remove it?

I declined to change once and the rebate was pathetic, not even enough to buy a pair of normal rubber wipers.

 

Does the juddering and squeaking happen only during light drizzle or all the time?

 

I suspect residual polish or wax dust might have gotten onto the windscreen during collection prep.

Anyway, I have changed the original wiper to the Bosch Aero Twin and no more juddering or streaking sound, it wipe smoothly and every wipe is very clean.

 

From the wipe, I can see that there is no more wax on the windscreen so will get the glass compound to clean the glass if there is more stains on the windscreen.

 

I will stick with the Bosch Aero Twin wiper and will remind TCM not to change my wiper when I go for my servicing.
