i went to leng kee to test drive and see the car for myself today. actually it is my fren who wanted to get the car. test drive car was a 1.6SX though. not the very basic one. they have 1.6EX (basic), SX and 2.0. i think early bird will have a discount of 2k though.

although the interior is a bit plastic, but for the price you are paying, and consider in all the equipment, u cant complain much. as far as i can see, the car already come with 17' sport rims, reverse sensor, alarm, no leather seats (but i think can be done), no solar films (i also think can be done). plus from wad i see, got anti-glare rear view mirror (equipped mostly on conti car), average consumption trip meter (although it have becoming a standard on cars nowadays) and VSA (i dunno its call vsa or traction control, in honda they call it a vsa, vehicle stability control).

its a 1.6 giving out 122bhp, a very decent for its class, and the pickup was good, even in start stop situation. but the engine tends to be a bit on the loud side over 3k rpm. the brake bites well too, wif 4 discs all around. once again, a plus point for a budget car like this. according to the sales guy, the FC will be ard 12-13 conservatively.

the design is kinda conti feel, wif upmarket feels, and i think it will be quite a good buy, for a budget like this, can get a car that can give me some surprises.

Just came back from test driving the 1.6L SX model, throttle response and handling is good.

Rear passenger much more spacious den Altis but the downside is the centre seat which can be very uncomfortable as the armrest will be pressing against ur spine.

Abit sad that the interior of the door feels cheap as it is totally plastic and the so called chrome interior handles are more like matt silver spray.

Sunroof and cruise control only for 2.0L. Keyless entry is not available YET and even so will be available ONLY for the 2.0L.

No leather seats available at all. Wan leather another $1.2K. Sian.... [smallcry]

Price quoted

$43,999 for EX 1.6(A)

$46,999 for SX 1.6(A)

$53,999 for SX 2.0(A)

all b4 $2000 discount

Tempted to change but dunno should i wait.

went to test the car last friday. car is good but salesperson really pissed me off. seemed like she was trying to smoke me. told me that the price stated (46,999) for the SX model was after 2k discount. and she was reluctant to let me test the car. and when i eventually managed to get the test drive, she started telling me about i should not drive too fast even before i started moving off!! what the hell rite?? to add to that, she was practically hard selling the car to me. couldn't believe she had the cheek to do that. threw away her namecard shortly after i left.

I almost book the 1.6A SX but nvr get offered any freebies leh...no leather seats, no solar film [:(] ....think wait another 6 mths see how...any Kia SE here anot...haha...maybe can discuss discuss... [lipsrsealed]

Personally I find the fabric seats on the SX really nice, it's definitely better than any locally fitted leather. Solar film I'm sure you can get after some bargaining.

hmm..why is that so? i thought leather/synthetic leather will be more lasting and easier to clean?

Leather might be easier to wipe clean for wet stains, but local leather in particular tends to look old very quickly and after 1-2 years it will be creased and smell musty. On the other hand, fabric will look new if well maintained. For my car's fabric seats, I just vacuum once a month and use a foam fabric cleaner every 4-5 months and it still looks brand new after 3-4 years.

i thought the forte rear really resembled the Audi a4 from certain angles...

anyway, why not top up 5k more to get new magentis??? i believe it's much larger inside...although, the cabin interior materials still rather disappointingly plastic...not befitting a 2.0L car...

kia local leather really cheapscake rubber pvc...look at the kia rio showroom model at lengkee and you'll know...

i think it can do with more power, considering the 0-100kph timing in 12 secs...

Some people don't need such a large car.

Some people don't need a car that can accelerate from 0-X km/h in Y seconds.
